On October 5, the Hanoi People's Committee and Sun Group officially started the Hanoi Opera House and thematic cultural and art park project at Dam Tri lake area, Quang An peninsula, Tay Ho ward.
Covering an area of 19.1 hectares and with a total investment of VND12,756 billion, this is a large-scale cultural and artistic project built with 100% socialized capital from Sun Group Corporation. The Hanoi Opera House is expected to be completed in 2027.
The most distinctive feature of the theater is the dome architecture inspired by pearls rising from the surface of West Lake. The dome has a super thin, super strong structure and is covered with a pearl-effect material, so that it can reflect the color of West Lake's surface according to the movement of time during the day.

Hanoi Opera House was designed by Italian architectural legend Renzo Piano, one of the most influential architects of the 20th century.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan said that in the world , each city has a symbolic cultural work associated with the national image: Sydney has the Opera House, Singapore has the Esplanade Theater, Paris, Milan, London, New York, Berlin, Los Angeles all have famous theaters.
"We believe that, when completed, the Hanoi Opera House and the thematic cultural and artistic park on the Quang An peninsula will contribute to changing the appearance and enhancing the value of Hanoi - an international cultural and tourist destination," the city leader shared.
