Round 28 of the Premier League ended with Chelsea beating Newcastle 3-2. This result helped The Blues move closer to returning to the top half of the rankings, with 39 points and only 1 point behind the 10th-placed Magpies.
The Premier League standings after round 28 saw a turning point in both the championship race and the top 4 race. Meanwhile, the bottom 3 teams all got points from draws while Nottingham Forest, in safe position, suffered defeat.
Arsenal moved into the lead with the same 64 points as Liverpool but with a better goal difference (+46 vs +39). Man City dropped to 3rd place with 63 points, 1 point behind the 2 rivals for the championship.
Aston Villa lost 0-4 to Tottenham in the decisive match for the top 4 and risk losing their ticket to the European Cup 1 next season to their opponents. Tottenham currently has 53 points, only 2 points behind Aston Villa and still has 1 match left to play.
Sheffield are bottom of the table with the same 14 points as Burnley but with a lower goal difference. Luton Town have raised hopes with 21 points, closing the gap to safety Nottingham with a game in hand.
