Bao Phuong Vinh and 3-cushion carom experts participate in Phuc Thinh Cup 2025

VHO - The 2025 Phuc Thinh Cup 3-Cushion Carom Billiards Tournament, one of the most anticipated events in the Vietnamese billiards community, officially kicked off from October 20 to 25 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Notably, Bao Phuong Vinh and many other top players of Vietnamese 3-cushion carom billiards will participate in the tournament.

Bao Phuong Vinh just won the bronze medal at the World Cup in Belgium. The player born in 1995 also just won a HBSF Tour for the first time. In history, Bao Phuong Vinh is also the only Vietnamese player to win the world championship (2023).

Phuc Thinh Cup 2025 is the result of cooperation between Phuc Thinh Billiards System and Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF), aiming to promote the 3-cushion carom movement and create a classy playground for both professional and amateur players.

This year’s Phuc Thinh Cup marked a notable innovation in the competition format. The tournament took place in two stages, including the qualifying round and the final round, but notably, both rounds had separate prize structures.

This is the first time in Vietnam that a 3-cushion carom tournament has been organized in a "2 in 1" format, helping players in the qualifying round not only compete to win tickets to the next round, but also compete for the championship of the qualifying round with attractive prizes.

Mr. Luong Khac Tam - founder of Phuc Thinh Billiards system and currently Vice President of HBSF, shared: "This format shows that Phuc Thinh always listens to players. After many times of organizing, we understand that amateur players need more than one opportunity to assert themselves and receive the recognition they deserve."

The presence of Bao Phuong Vinh and many other top players will bring great competition to the tournament.

Notably, in order to encourage the female 3-cushion carom movement and to honor Vietnamese Women's Day October 20, the organizing committee decided to waive all competition fees for female players.

This is a practical action, demonstrating concern and proper investment for female athletes, who are still modest in this sport.

The qualifying round will take place from October 20 to 23, in a knockout format, with matches of up to 30 points/40 rounds.

The organizing committee plans to receive a maximum of 220 athletes to register for the qualifying round, of which the 16 best players will qualify for the final round.

The tournament is one of the most anticipated events in the Vietnamese billiards community.

The final round took place on October 24 and 25, bringing together 32 players including 16 qualifiers and 16 players from the HBSF 3-cushion carom rankings.

The total prize value is nearly 60 million VND. In the final round, the champion will receive 40 million VND, the runner-up will receive 15 million VND, while the two third-place players will each receive 7.5 million VND.

With careful investment, a list of quality players and a new breakthrough format, the Phuc Thinh Cup 2025 promises to be an explosive tournament for the Vietnamese billiards community this October.
