The event aims to honor and promote four typical intangible cultural heritages of Vietnam recognized by UNESCO, including: Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space, Southern Amateur Music Art, Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Songs and Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Songs.
This is an opportunity to affirm the role of the community, artisans and researchers in preserving, transmitting and promoting heritage values while spreading the message of joining hands to preserve and promote national cultural values in contemporary life.
The workshop was attended by researchers, cultural managers and outstanding artisans from regions across the country.
At the workshop, opinions focused on clarifying issues of preserving, teaching and promoting heritage values in the current context, and vividly illustrating through folk performances. The academic space was designed to be open, combining research, performance and exchange, helping participants feel the "liveliness" of heritage through the breath, rhythm and creative spirit of the community.
Meritorious artist Hoang Ba Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the Ha Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Club, spoke at the workshop.
The folk performance program took place over two days, from the afternoon of October 18 to the end of October 19, bringing the public a unique journey of experience through heritage areas. Quan ho, Vi, Giam, Don ca tai tu melodies along with gongs and xoang dances blended together in a colorful space, recreating the unique features in customs, language and artistic life of each land. Visitors, students and researchers had the opportunity to interact and talk directly with artisans, listen to stories about the profession, the village, and how the community has preserved cultural quintessence through many generations.
Participating in the folk performance program are four art troupes: Gong and xoang - Xo Dang Gong Club (Quang Ngai); Amateur music - Amateur music Club ( Ca Mau ); Vi and Giam folk songs - Folk Arts Association (Ha Tinh) and Quan Ho folk songs - Tu Hoa Ancient Quan Ho Club (Bac Ninh).
Speaking at the workshop, Professor, Doctor Le Hong Ly, Chairman of the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, said: This workshop and performance program introduces four typical art forms as a vivid demonstration of the process of collecting, researching and teaching that the Vietnam Folk Arts Association has persistently carried out over the years. The event affirms the role of the association in conferring titles on folk artists, contributing to the preservation and dissemination of traditional cultural values of Vietnamese ethnic groups, while opening up a direction for exploiting folk cultural values to serve the development of cultural and creative industries.
Within the framework of the program, representatives of the Vietnam Folklore Association and the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology awarded certificates and certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with active contributions to the work of preserving and promoting folk cultural values.
