Head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh welcomed Mr. Agustin Carstens on his first visit to Vietnam as Director General of BIS.
On this occasion, the Head of the Central Economic Commission expressed his gratitude to the BIS Board of Directors for supporting the State Bank of Vietnam in the process of joining and familiarizing with the cooperation mechanisms in BIS. It is a pleasure to know that, after three years of becoming a member of BIS, the State Bank of Vietnam has proactively participated in and responded to BIS activities, implemented BIS recommendations in the banking sector, and at the same time, demonstrated the responsibility of a member central bank.
The Head of the Central Economic Committee highly appreciated the role of BIS as the world's leading monetary and financial institution, which plays a major role in connecting monetary management agencies and world banks in new initiatives and technologies.
The Head of the Central Economic Commission suggested that BIS continue to enhance its role in developing payment and financial infrastructure in the Asian region, including Vietnam, helping countries quickly access new technologies, ensuring smooth payments between countries and territories, protecting network security and the global financial system.
Expressing his delight at Vietnam's management of a high-growth economy and good control of inflation in the context of many difficulties in the global economy, Mr. Agustin Carstens highly appreciated the policies of the Party and State of Vietnam in stabilizing the macro-economy, strengthening international integration and promoting digital transformation and innovation.
General Director Agustin Carstens highly agreed with the proposals of the Head of the Central Economic Commission, and shared some specific ideas and solutions.
BIS will continue to accompany and support the State Bank of Vietnam in investing in developing payment and financial infrastructure, promoting digital transformation to contribute to improving governance and risk management in the banking sector.
Mr. Agustin Carstens wishes to strengthen the cooperative relationship between BIS and Vietnamese agencies in general and the Central Economic Committee in particular.
