According to The Telegraph, the liquid detection feature has been equipped by Apple from the iPhone XS onwards to protect the internal components of the device. When moisture or water enters the charging port, the system will display the message “Charging function not available” or “Liquid detected in USB-C connector”.
If the user still tries to plug in the charger, water can cause an electrical short and corrode the charging pin, causing serious damage to the device. Apple recommends immediately disconnecting all cables, holding the iPhone charging side down, and allowing it to air dry.
Never use a dryer, hot fan or rice bag to dry, as this may cause internal components to deform or become further damaged. It can take up to 24 hours for your iPhone to completely dry, depending on the level of water damage. Once dry, users can try plugging it in again, or changing to another accessory if the message persists.
Just one mistimed charge can turn your expensive iPhone into a brick, so always follow Apple's warnings. Dear readers, please watch more videos : Top 10 'Scary' Technology Devices of the Future.
