Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien handed over the decision to Major Le Vinh Hoang (company commander, Brigade 229, Engineering Corps), replacing Captain Chu Tuan Linh, to take on the position of military observer officer, at the UNMISS mission, Republic of South Sudan.
Major Le Vinh Hoang was deployed to the Central African Republic Mission (MINUSCA) for a one-year term (2022-2023) as an intelligence analyst and participated in many United Nations peacekeeping training courses.
Speaking at the decision-giving ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien praised the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and related units for doing a good job of preparing, training and creating human resources for this important task.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien believes that Major Hoang, with his previous experience in Central Africa, will be able to apply it well to immediately start working at the mission in South Sudan.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien said that the security situation at the South Sudan mission has recently been very complicated and unpredictable, with constant fighting and airstrikes. Therefore, he requested that during the implementation of the UN peacekeeping mission, Major Hoang must ensure absolute safety throughout his term of office.

Besides, it is necessary to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Party's policies and guidelines, State laws and military discipline as well as regulations of the United Nations and laws of the host country.
"Comrade, representing the Vietnam People's Army in participating in international missions, please inherit and promote the tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army, always maintain standard conduct, words and actions, demonstrate a sense of responsibility, proactively learn and cooperate with international colleagues, and confidently demonstrate your mettle and professional capacity.
Through that, you will spread the good qualities of the army, of Uncle Ho's soldiers, as well as the image of the country and people of Vietnam so that the people, the government of the host country, colleagues and international friends will trust and respect you," Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien advised.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien also said that in the coming time, he hopes that Vietnam will have many outstanding individuals and units participating in UN peacekeeping activities, especially participating in high-ranking positions at UN missions and headquarters, in order to enhance Vietnam's position and image in the eyes of international friends.

Last September, two squadrons of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 7 and Engineer Team No. 4 departed for the United Nations peacekeeping mission, expanding the quantity and quality of Vietnam's peacekeeping force, bringing it to more than 1,300 officers and professional soldiers deployed by the Ministry of National Defense in both individual and unit form.
