The Ministry of Health has extended and re-issued registration numbers for more than 1,100 drugs for treatment and disease prevention.

According to the Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ), in this 11th extension, the unit announced nearly 900 different types of domestic drugs and pharmaceutical ingredients, which will continue to be used until December 31.

The Department also issued a list of 193 foreign drugs that have been granted and have their circulation registration certificates extended in Vietnam, and at the same time announced the list of registrations for 15 original brand-name drugs in the second phase of 2024.

Domestic and foreign pharmaceutical products with extended registration numbers are very diverse in terms of pharmacological effects, including drugs for treating cancer, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, antiviral drugs, respiratory disease treatment, antibiotics, antipyretics, pain relievers, other common anti-inflammatories, and vaccines and biological products in high demand for use in medical examination, treatment, and disease prevention.

Previously, in January and February 2024, the Drug Administration of Vietnam issued many decisions announcing the extension and issuance of new circulation registration numbers for more than 1,000 types of drugs, pharmaceutical ingredients, original pharmaceuticals, vaccines and medical biological products.

In 2023, the Ministry of Health will process applications for import licenses for drugs without circulation registration certificates to meet the treatment needs of patients.

The Ministry directs the Departments of Health to strengthen the work of ensuring drug supply in the area for drugs/combined drugs/drug ingredients that are addictive drugs, psychotropic drugs, precursors, and used to make drugs.

Regarding the issuance of legal documents, the Drug Administration of Vietnam has advised and reported to the leaders of the Ministry, the Government and the National Assembly to issue legal documents, including Decree 30 on drug and medical equipment assurance.
