The opponent of the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team on the opening day is host Indonesia in group A.

Having home field advantage, U21 Indonesia could not show many strengths. The team's players appeared weak in the first step, while their attack coordination tactics were also limited.

With more experience, the U21 Vietnamese women's volleyball team dominated the match. Coach Nguyen Trong Linh arranged the starting lineup with the strongest names including Dang Thi Hong, Pham Quynh Huong, Ngo Thi Bich Hue, Nguyen Phuong Quynh, Le Nhu Anh, Lai Khanh Huyen and libero Ha Kieu Vy.

The Vietnamese girls had some trouble at the beginning of the first set when they were behind 0-3. But they quickly equalized to 3-3. The gap was widened to 14-11, 21-12 and then won 25-15.

In set 2, coach Nguyen Trong Linh's team continued to control the game. Not only did they coordinate more smoothly, they also scored points many times thanks to their opponents' mistakes.

In this set, Indonesia made 12 unforced errors. U21 Vietnam continued to win with a score difference of 25-16.

Having won 2 sets in advance, the Vietnamese girls were somewhat negligent in set 3. Setter Khanh Huyen could not maintain her previous coordination. Even the important main attacker Quynh Huong made mistakes.

Indonesia thus got a gap of up to 14-11.

At this time, coach Nguyen Trong Linh made important adjustments. He brought in reserve players Nguyen Van Ha, Pham Thuy Linh and Bui Thi Anh Thao. Finally, U21 Vietnam successfully tied the score 14-14.

Unable to maintain their advantage, Indonesia gradually lost strength. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team continued to win 25-18, thereby achieving a 3-0 victory.

This is a historic victory for Vietnamese volleyball in its first participation in the U21 Women's Volleyball World Cup.
