On the afternoon of October 10 in Ho Chi Minh City, singer Pham Quynh Anh officially introduced the EP (Extended Single) "How Beautiful Should You Cry", after three postponements of the release date due to personal reasons and weather effects.

The project marks the return of the singer of "Dust in the Eyes" with a radiant, youthful image full of positive energy.

Pham Quynh Anh 'transformed' after 28 years

At the press conference to launch the EP "Xinh sao phai khoc" , Pham Quynh Anh shared that this is the most special project in her 28 years of singing.

This is considered a "transformation milestone" when for the first time he left the lyrical ballads that were associated with his name, to try out more vibrant and youthful music.

"This project looks very rosy, everything looks beautiful but also encounters many difficulties. Quynh Anh believes that the more difficult it is, the more the audience will love it," she said.

Inspired by her journey participating in the program "Beautiful Sister Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves" 2024 , Pham Quynh Anh said that it was this dynamic and challenging environment that gave her more motivation to change herself.

Responding to the reason for changing her music genre after 28 years of association, Pham Quynh Anh admitted: "I still love sad music, but if I only sing one song, it will be boring. After "Chi dep dap gio" I realized that I can dance and stir up the audience. This EP is both a gift for the audience and a bridge with my children because they love to see their mother happy and dancing."

One of the highlights of the EP is the collaboration between Pham Quynh Anh and actress Dong Anh Quynh, who is trying her hand at rap for the first time. The singer revealed that she initially received many suggestions from the crew about famous female rappers, but in the end, she chose Dong Anh Quynh because of her "belief and seriousness".

EP Pretty, why must you cry includes four songs: Pretty, why must you cry (ft. Dong Anh Quynh), It's a drunken talk , Waiting for the table (ft. Hoang Yen Chibi), Pretty, why must you cry (Dance Version).

The theme song "Why should you cry, Xinh?" carries a message encouraging women to live happily, confidently and love themselves: "When you know how to appreciate yourself, people around you will also feel and love you more. Women should only cry for things that truly deserve it."

Pham Quynh Anh also added that the image of the "lamp" in the MV "Xinh sao phai khoc " symbolizes women who used to live dependently and obscurely in life. According to her, the light from the lamp not only evokes awareness but also sends a message: women should learn to light up their own lives, be more confident and happier every day.

An interesting point is that Pham Quynh Anh chose BB Tran as the male lead in the MV "Xinh sao phai khoc ". The female singer explained: "People often remember BB for his cross-dressing image, but I see in him a very strong, masculine side. I want to exploit a different perspective of BB Tran, both soft and profound".

How to Cry in Pretty Not only marks a turning point in the singer's career, but also serves as a message to modern women: love yourself, be happy, and be strong enough to overcome anything that isn't worth crying about.

"No matter where I am or how many people there are in the audience, I will still sing. But now I sing with a different mindset, more energy, more joy," Pham Quynh Anh emotionally shared.
