With the spirit of "proactively reaching out to the people, not waiting for them to be in difficulty to seek the army", officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard have helped hundreds of people and vehicles overcome flooded areas.
Captain Vu Quoc Viet, Captain of the Guard Company, Administration - Logistics Department, Coast Guard General Staff said: The unit sent 3 teams (each team has about 12 - 15 people) to take turns to help transport people through flooded areas. Each shift lasts about 1 hour.
According to Captain Vu Quoc Viet, the means of transporting people is a raft, which was directed by the Chief to be made after the first flood, so that when a situation arises, it will be able to support people. This raft is made from recycled items such as barrels, planks, iron frames, then reinforced to become a raft for easy movement to support people. Although it is hard work, all the soldiers participating in supporting people are happy and enthusiastic.

Veteran Nguyen Quang Minh, residing in Mieu Nha village, Xuan Phuong commune, Hanoi, said: "I was on my way to the market to buy vegetables when the road was flooded. I definitely could not have pushed my bike alone. I was encouraged and helped by the Coast Guard officers and soldiers who were drenched in the rain but still smiled. I was deeply moved."
Corporal Tran Van Cuong, a soldier who directly helps people, shared: "In times of trouble, people really need help, so we are ready to be there to support them. This is not only a duty, but also a responsibility and affection of a Coast Guard soldier towards the people."
Thanks to that help, many people avoided long traffic jams and the dangers lurking when trying to move by themselves in deep floodwaters.

It is known that Coast Guard officers and soldiers will continue to be on duty at this flooded spot during peak hours in the morning, afternoon and evening, taking turns to support, ensuring that whenever people need it, there will be Coast Guard forces, no longer having to deal with the flooded spot alone.
