Idzes (3) regrets after losing to Saudi Arabia. |
Despite Saudi Arabia having to play with one less player, Indonesia were still unable to take advantage and earn points. This defeat meant that coach Patrick Kluivert and his team had a less than expected start in the most important stage of the qualifiers.
Speaking after the match, center-back Jay Idzes frankly shared: “This was not an easy match. After the equalizer, we let the opponent score another goal too soon. Everything became very difficult from then on. We need to review the match and look back at what happened."
Despite being disappointed with the result, the 2000-born midfielder affirmed that the team's fighting spirit is still intact. "In the next match, we have one more chance. Everything is not over yet. We must continue to believe and fight hard to win against Iraq," Idzes added.
The Indonesian team captain also expressed his deep gratitude to the home fans: “We have the best fans in the world . The whole team is truly grateful for your great support. Even though we lost 2-3, they still gave us love and encouragement. We wanted to repay that, but unfortunately we could not do it today.”
According to the schedule, the Indonesian team will have its second match against Iraq on October 12 at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
