The story at the Shanghai Masters 2025 is like a Hollywood movie. Two French cousins - Arthur Rinderknech and Valentin Vacherot will face off in a historic final, after both created shocks that shook the tennis world.

Previously, Vacherot stunned the world by defeating "living monument" Novak Djokovic, while Rinderknech defeated Daniil Medvedev - the 2019 Shanghai champion with a score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
The moment Medvedev made a double fault that ended the match became iconic: Rinderknech fell to the ground in celebration, while Vacherot held his head in disbelief at the miracle that had just happened.
“We never even dared to dream of this,” Rinderknech said emotionally. “From the quarter-finals, we started to believe that maybe… miracles do happen.”

The 30-year-old saved nine break points in the final two sets, showing incredible character. He also became the ninth Frenchman to reach the final of an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
Now, the two men, who played together at Texas A&M University, will compete for the biggest title of their careers. Regardless of who wins, the Shanghai Masters 2025 will have cemented their names in history as a “real-life fairy tale” of French tennis.
