Rich in the flavors of the West

This year's festival attracted the participation of 21 provinces and cities across the country such as Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Son La, Quang Tri, Phu Yen, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Can Tho, Soc Trang, Ben Tre, Long An, Tien Giang, Hau Giang, Tra Vinh , Vinh Long, Kien Giang and An Giang. The localities brought 400 booths displaying traditional cakes, tourism exhibitions and typical OCOP products with regional characteristics.

The festival organizing committee presented souvenir flags to participating units.

With the theme “Fragrance of An Giang ”, the festival not only introduces local specialties but also promotes An Giang’s typical products, especially palm sugar and palm nectar – the main ingredients of many traditional cakes at the festival.

Within the framework of the event, An Giang Trade and Investment Promotion Center coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Yen province to organize a tuna processing performance, along with the "An Giang Flavors and Colors" folk cake contest, honoring the traditional culinary culture of the land of seven mountains.

In particular, the festival also has a record-setting contest for "100 traditional cakes made from palm sugar", organized by the An Giang Trade and Investment Promotion Center in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Institute for Cultural and Arts Conservation and Development.

The contest has the participation of 10 teams from provinces such as Kien Giang, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang, Hau Giang, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Duong and An Giang. Each team will prepare 10 traditional cakes using ingredients from An Giang palm.

The Southern Folk Cake Festival welcomes thousands of visitors.

Mr. Le Trung Hieu, Director of the Center for Trade and Investment Promotion of An Giang province, said: “The Southern Traditional Cake Festival - An Giang 2024 aims to preserve and promote traditional culinary culture from palm trees, creating conditions for people to enjoy and participate in cake making activities, as well as learn about the culinary culture of the Southern region and provinces and cities across the country”.

Mr. Hieu also emphasized: "The festival is also an opportunity for organizations, associations, craft villages and artisans making traditional cakes to promote their products, expand the market and build the Southern traditional cake brand into a national brand."

The Southern Folk Cake Festival - An Giang 2024 promises to bring unique culinary cultural experiences to visitors from inside and outside the province.

The fair promoting tourism, trade and OCOP products is an important highlight of the festival, helping businesses and manufacturers promote products, connect businesses and expand markets.

The Southern Traditional Cake Festival - An Giang 2024 will take place from August 3 to August 11 at Golden City Urban Area, My Hoa Ward, Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province.
