Dembele overwhelms Yamal in terms of points in the 2025 Golden Ball vote

(Dan Tri) - France Football magazine announced the scores in the 2025 Ballon d'Or vote. Ousmane Dembele showed dominance over Lamine Yâml.

According to the results revealed on September 26, Dembele won a total of 1,380 points, far surpassing the runner-up Lamine Yamal (Barca) with 1,059 points. These are also the only two names to surpass the 1,000 point mark.

The next positions are Vitinha (703 points), Mohamed Salah (657 points) and Raphinha (620 points). The top 10 list closes with Achraf Hakimi (484), Kylian Mbappe (378), Cole Palmer (211), Gianluigi Donnarumma (172) and Nuno Mendes (171).

Notably, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) has 5 players in the top 10. This is a worthy reward for PSG, as they had a convincing season and the highlight was the UEFA Champions League championship.

Dembele scored 35 goals and made 14 assists in all competitions, helping PSG lift the Champions League trophy for the first time and complete a historic treble. This is also the second time in PSG's history that a player has won the Ballon d'Or, after Lionel Messi.

Despite only finishing second at the 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony on September 23, Lamine Yamal still had a successful season with Barcelona with two domestic championships. Notably, Dembele and Yamal will face off directly in the Champions League group stage next week.

According to the regulations, the 2025 Ballon d'Or is awarded by an international jury of professional journalists, with each country in the top 100 of FIFA sending a representative. Three criteria are considered in order of priority: (1) individual performance, decisiveness and impression; (2) collective achievements and titles; (3) style and fair-play.

Each journalist selects 10 players in descending order of merit. The 10 players selected receive 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points respectively. The Golden Ball is awarded to the player with the highest total points. In the event of a tie, the order is determined by the number of times they were selected in first place, then second place, third place and so on.
