On social networks, beauty groups recently shared a "secret" that is considered a "rejuvenation elixir", which when infused will help reverse the aging process, making you 10 years younger. That is the NAD+ energy transmission method.

On Facebook, an account posted a NAD+ infusion method with an advertisement that it will help improve 100% of fatigue and forgetfulness; relieve 85% of stress - avoid anxiety disorders; strengthen 80% of the immune system; prolong concentration; contribute to rejuvenating 10 biological years...

Contact this account to learn about the NAD+ infusion method, the customer care person introduced: "This is a coenzyme that plays an important role in many biological processes of the body. It helps you convert food into energy for cell function.

Supports the repair of damaged cells, regulates the activity of the gene system to restore functions in the body. It takes care of you from the inside, so it not only beautifies the skin but is also good for the heart, memory, and improves hormones...".

This person also offers products originating from Japan for 15-20 million VND/300ml bottle, guaranteed genuine, code can be checked.

However, on all pages selling these products, there is no phone number or address of the distribution facility.

Ambiguous transmission of many substances of unknown origin

In Ho Chi Minh City, recently the Department of Health Inspectorate has discovered and continuously punished many cases of advertising NAD+ energy transmission with "explosive" advertising slogans.

The dermatology clinic of Shynh House Company Limited located at 33 Tran Quoc Thao, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3 was inspected by the Department of Health Inspectorate in coordination with District 3 Police, District 3 Health Department... At the time of inspection, it was recorded that there were two medical records of two patients who had received NAD+ infusions to improve their skin, hair, and health.

It is worth mentioning that this clinic could not provide documents related to the products used. The representative of the facility admitted that the solution that is said to be NAD+ is actually vitaplex 500ml solution, pantogen 250ml... These are just infusions containing vitamin B groups, currently sold on the market for only 60,000 - 125,000 VND.

Another case is the multidisciplinary clinic of 3T Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company in Ward 12, District 10, illegally advertising related to NAD+ such as: "Health party with Drip NAD+ infusion to fight aging, rejuvenate in a high-class way", "Top 5 most selected premium Drip NAD+ regimens: regimen to increase energy, sleep well, increase memory, fight depression, reduce anxiety"...

During the inspection, three patients were being infused with an unlabeled yellow solution; the products included: a 1000mg bottle of NAD+, a bottle of glutathione, and other products lacking information to determine their origin and quality.

Doctor Nguyen Tien Thanh, a member of the Vietnam Dermatology Association, said he had treated 4-5 patients who came to see him after experiencing complications after believing in advertisements for NAD+ infusions.

Most of these patients after infusion appear allergic and lesions or relapse like acute urticaria with manifestations of papules, edematous plaques. There are cases of drug allergy with erythema… Patients must be treated after 7-10 days to stabilize.

There is no scientific evidence yet.

Dr. Thanh added that recently, many people have asked about this type of infusion. However, the NAD+ infusion service is not yet licensed in Vietnam, but at many beauty facilities, or through "hand-carried" channels, many people have bought and used it.

Explaining more about this method, Dr. Thanh said that NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a coenzyme that plays an important role in the process of cellular energy metabolism. When cells have enough energy, they will function effectively to help maintain a healthy body.

It is important to note, however, that while research on NAD+ supplementation is promising, much of it is still in the animal or laboratory stages. The efficacy and safety of boosting NAD+ in humans still needs to be confirmed through further clinical studies.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health also said that currently, on websites and social networks, there are many illegal advertisements related to NAD+ that completely lack scientific evidence of its anti-aging effects, energy enhancement, health, beauty, etc.

This product has not been licensed for circulation in Vietnam, nor is it included in any treatment guidelines of the Ministry of Health .

Dr. Thanh said that this service has not been licensed in Vietnam. Therefore, it is impossible to verify whether the product is safe to use in the body. "There is very little research on the effects of NAD+ so far, it is still in the small-scale testing phase. There are no indications or studies on the normal physiological concentration when transfused to humans, and whether excess or deficiency will cause any problems.

In addition, currently, the majority of infusion solutions are not licensed, so it is difficult to control their safety. Products introduced into the body but of unknown type and uncertain effects pose many potential risks such as allergies, hives, and even shock...", Dr. Thanh warned.

Previously, after the COVID-19 pandemic, some facilities in Ho Chi Minh City continuously advertised the transmission of NAD+ energy to treat post-COVID-19 with the effect of restoring health by 200%.

Doctor Nguyen Nhu Vinh, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, said that we need to be careful with these advertisements because the substances being injected into the body may just be supplements, vitamins, or proteins, which are very cheap, costing no more than a few tens of millions of dong.

Besides, not to mention the transfusion of certain substances into the body, if wanting to administer saline, vitamins, proteins... the doctor must carefully consider and examine because it can lead to anaphylactic shock, which is life-threatening.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health calls on people to be highly vigilant against claims that have no scientific basis and are not verified by state management agencies to avoid health and financial risks.
