Breakthrough opportunity
Mr. Nguyen Duy Khoa, Director of AN Media Communications & Event Organization Company, shared: “We apply AI in script writing, talkshows, event design and music . When creating scripts, we often need to compare results from many different tools; with the AI solution of a Vietnamese technology company recently, this can be done right on the same application and can control the level of AI usage of employees, ensuring effective and appropriate application.”
“The biggest difficulty for businesses when applying AI is cost. In addition, businesses have many generations of employees (8x, 9x...), so they require AI applications that can combine many tools on the same platform for centralized training and management. No application is perfect, so we constantly give feedback to Vietnamese technology providers to improve,” Mr. Nguyen Duy Khoa shared.

Mr. Le Cong Thanh, General Director of InfoRe Technology Company, said: When AI exploded, Vietnamese businesses quickly approached it, but the application of AI was still in its infancy and rudimentary, only used at the individual level in businesses. Many business leaders are in the process of learning.
FPT Retail Deputy General Director commented: “For Long Chau, AI is a bridge that helps pharmacists provide timely advice, people identify disease risks better, and millions of customers comply with treatment more effectively. Importantly, we put people at the center. AI does not replace pharmacists, AI accompanies, so that each interaction with customers is not only faster, more accurate, but also more reliable.”
According to Mr. Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the Institute of Information Technology, Hanoi National University, announcing the Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Annual Report 2025, the Vietnamese AI market is confirmed to be one of the fastest growing markets in the region, with an expected value of about 1.52 billion USD by 2030, maintaining a stable growth rate of 20%/year.
AI is opening up great opportunities to promote digital economic growth. The industries leading the trend of providing AI in Vietnam include: Information technology increased by 31%, finance and banking increased by 22%, education increased by 17%, e-commerce and healthcare increased by 15%. Meanwhile, the demand for AI applications is increasing, especially in 5 main areas: Education, finance, industrial production, transportation and healthcare.
However, the biggest challenges are the lack of high-quality human resources (45% of AI providers), 23% face difficulties with data and computing infrastructure, and 30% are concerned about the lack of clear legal corridors. In AI data, 50% of providers said that data is limited or not accessible to standards, while 51% of training facilities face obstacles due to poor quality training data. The report also points out a “core bottleneck” in the AI value chain: the large gap between development investment and application investment.
“While technology solution providers are expanding the scale of their projects, with most investments ranging from 1 to 3 billion VND, AI spending by application units in five key areas (education, healthcare, finance, transportation, and industry) has not received much attention,” said Mr. Le Quang Minh.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently surveyed 1,000 businesses in Vietnam and also showed a vivid picture of the speed of AI application. Within just one year, the number of businesses implementing AI increased from 13% to 18%, equivalent to nearly 170,000 businesses.
The application of AI is bringing clear potential for operational efficiency and economic benefits. Of the businesses that have implemented AI, 61% recorded an average revenue growth of 16%, while 58% expect an average cost savings of around 20%.
Currently, 74% of businesses are primarily using AI for basic goals such as improving operational efficiency and streamlining processes, rather than focusing on product innovation or making strides in the industry. Only 17% of businesses have reached the intermediate stage of their AI journey, and only 9% have entered the full transformation stage, where AI plays a core role in product development, decision-making, and shaping business models.
Accompanying businesses
From a business management perspective, Mr. Nguyen Thuong Tuong Minh, General Director of Base.vn, emphasized that Vietnam is entering the era of “operational AI”, where AI becomes a real “digital colleague” of humans. Many Vietnamese businesses have recorded clear results with the time to process documents, review contracts or make decisions reduced dozens of times thanks to integrating AI into core processes. For example, in the legal field, AI supports contract review, helping to reduce processing time from 15 minutes to 1 minute, equivalent to saving 1/3 of the monthly labor for specialists.
“To be ready to enter this era, businesses need to perfect their data platforms and digitalization processes, because that is the 'fertile soil' for AI to fully develop its capabilities,” said Mr. Nguyen Thuong Tuong Minh.
According to Mr. Nguyen Khac Lich, Director of the Department of Digital Technology Industry (Ministry of Science and Technology), in recent years, Vietnam has been asserting its increasingly high position on the world AI map. According to the Global AI Readiness Index Report 2024 by Oxford Insights, Vietnam ranked 59/193 countries, in the Top 5 ASEAN and for three consecutive years exceeded the global average.
Investment capital and AI applications are also accelerating strongly. In just one year, investment capital in domestic AI enterprises increased from 10 million USD (2023) to 80 million USD (2024), an increase of 8 times. AI is present in all fields: finance, healthcare, e-commerce, manufacturing, smart cities, contributing to solving practical problems of the country.
“The Vietnamese government has identified artificial intelligence as one of the pillars of the national digital technology industry. The Ministry of Science and Technology has been updating the National AI Strategy to 2030, and is preparing to submit the Draft AI Law, an important step to perfect the institution, ensuring that AI is developed transparently, safely and responsibly. AI development is not only a technological problem, but also a problem of the market, people and trust. We will build a National AI Supercomputing Center, develop open shared AI data and strongly promote 'AIization' in enterprises, state agencies and social life,” said Mr. Nguyen Khac Lich.
“To develop AI, we must create a market for AI. Therefore, the Government will increase public spending on AI. The National Technology Innovation Fund (NATIF) will allocate a significant portion of its budget to support AI applications, while implementing a public procurement mechanism that prioritizes domestic digital technology solutions. We need to turn the domestic market into a launching pad to nurture and elevate Vietnamese AI businesses, helping them reach out to the region and the world,” Mr. Nguyen Khac Lich affirmed.
