On the afternoon of October 13, the People's Committee of Can Tho City held a meeting to celebrate Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day to honor and express gratitude for the important contributions of businesses and entrepreneurs to the city's socio-economic development over the past time.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee spoke at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, said that in recent times, the business community and entrepreneurs of Can Tho City have been a pioneering force making important contributions to the city's socio -economic development. Not only being active in production and business, the city's business community has always demonstrated a noble sense of social responsibility, actively participating in humanitarian activities, repaying gratitude, supporting the poor, contributing to building a compassionate, cohesive and sustainable community.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City hopes that businesses and entrepreneurs in Can Tho City will continue to affirm their mettle, intelligence, dare to think, dare to do, dare to innovate, develop businesses in the direction of green economy, circular and sustainable economy; build and improve corporate and entrepreneurial culture, improve competitiveness, develop brands and spread brands to provinces and cities at home and abroad.

The leaders of Can Tho city pledge to accompany and create the most open, transparent and favorable environment so that all ideas and initiatives of entrepreneurs are respected and realized; join forces with the team of entrepreneurs and the business community to constantly develop both in quantity and quality, contributing to the development of the city, successfully implementing Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW dated August 5, 2020 of the Politburo on building and developing Can Tho city to 2030, with a vision to 2045; Resolution of the 1st City Party Congress, term 2026-2030 with the spirit of equality, mutual development, mutual benefit, mutual responsibility to society, workers and environmental protection...

According to Mr. Vuong Thanh Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance of Can Tho City, in the 3 months after the merger, Can Tho City has newly granted business registration to 1,173 enterprises of all types with a total registered capital of 6,465 billion VND, an increase of 47.36% in the number of enterprises and an increase of 31.21% in capital compared to the same period in 2024; the total number of enterprises voluntarily dissolved is 110, an increase of 0.91% over the same period, 222 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend operations, a decrease of 3.06% and 175 enterprises registered to resume operations, a decrease of 17.84% over the same period. From the above figures, it can be seen that, although being greatly affected by the instability of the world economy, the city's business force is still maintaining recovery and development.

Since the beginning of the year, the city has attracted 19 new investment projects; including 1 foreign direct investment project with an investment capital of 100 million USD and 18 domestic investment projects with a total registered investment capital of 19,003.57 billion VND. Currently, the city has 124 FDI projects with a total registered investment capital of about 7,451.8 million USD; 1,028 domestic investment projects have been granted investment registration with a total investment capital of more than 450,330.16 billion VND...

The above positive results show that the business sector is gradually expanding its scale of operations, increasing investment and production, which will be an important factor contributing positively to the city's overall growth in the last months of the year and throughout 2025.

However, according to Mr. Nam, in recent times, businesses have also encountered many difficulties in the process of operation such as some businesses still have difficulties in accessing capital, high interest rates, tax and fee policies; pressure from economic fluctuations, market competition, digital transformation. Some small and medium enterprises still have limited human resources and technology to carry out digital transformation; export markets face many difficulties, especially the US market...

At the meeting, businesses and entrepreneurs in Can Tho city also shared the advantages and difficulties in production and business activities and said that they will focus on investing, expanding production and business scale, innovating technology, promoting the application of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, expanding the market for goods consumption in the coming time and hope that the city's leaders will continue to accompany, support, and remove difficulties and obstacles for businesses and entrepreneurs...

At the meeting, the Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 90 collectives with achievements in production and business activities contributing to the socio-economic development of Can Tho city in 2025.
