Great aspiration from the great forest
According to the plan, by 2030, Mang Den will meet the criteria of a national tourist area. The local government aims to turn this place into the "green resort heart" of the country, both preserving nature and promoting economic development.

Mr. Dang Quang Ha, Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Mang Den commune, said that to realize the aspiration of turning Mang Den into a natural resort center of Vietnam, the locality is focusing on 6 key groups of solutions.
First of all, the ecological space planning is divided into three layers: the core zone for primary forest conservation; the buffer zone associated with organic agriculture and forestry, medicinal herbs and farmstay models; and the service zone will aim to develop green urban areas, walking streets and night-time economy.
At the same time, forest protection is given top priority with the program "One million trees for green Mang Den", maintaining a coverage of over 75%.
Thanks to its cool climate all year round, Mang Den increasingly attracts a large number of tourists from all over the world.

Strategic infrastructure is also prioritized, including the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum expressway, Mang Den airport and a green, smart public infrastructure system.
In the tourism sector, the locality aims at products with little impact on resources such as nature exploration, experiential agriculture , sports, health care; at the same time, strengthening links in the "forest, sea, culture" chain with Sa Huynh, Ly Son, Hoi An, and Da Nang.
For effective management, the government plans to issue a Code of Conduct and a set of ecotourism criteria, and at the same time build the brand "Mang Den - Vietnam's Natural Resort Center".
Human resources are also a key area, with plans to train tourism skills, foreign languages, digital skills, short-term training in service, communication, food safety, and expand cooperation with universities and research institutes.
"Mang Den development is only sustainable when conservation is the foundation, the community is the subject, businesses are the driving force and the State creates and coordinates," Mr. Ha emphasized.
Mang Den tourism accelerates
Despite many challenges, Mang Den tourism has made great strides. If in 2021 it only welcomed 120,000 visitors, by 2024 the number had increased 10 times, exceeding 1.2 million with revenue of more than 1,345 billion VND.
In 2025, the locality aims to reach 1.5 million visitors, with an average growth rate of over 40% per year in the 2021-2025 period.

Currently, Mang Den commune has 143 accommodation establishments with more than 1,200 rooms, serving about 6,000 visitors/day. The average exploitation capacity reaches 70 - 75%, peak season often exceeds 90%. Many hotels and resorts have built their brands, contributing to spreading the image of Mang Den widely.
Mang Den is considered as "the second Da Lat" with a temperate climate all year round, an average temperature of 18 - 22°C. This is an ideal condition for relaxation as well as organic agricultural development. The land area of nearly 40,000 hectares of forest with a coverage of more than 75% creates a diverse ecosystem with famous landscapes such as Pa Sy waterfall, Dak Ke lake, Toong Dam, Toong Zo Ri. The legend of Mo Nam about "Seven lakes, three waterfalls" further emphasizes the mystery and charm of this land.

Not only nature, Mang Den is also home to many ethnic groups such as Ca Dong, Mo Nam, Xo Dang, Hre... The sound of gongs, seasonal festivals, folk arts, and local cuisine all become "special spices" that attract tourists.
Besides great opportunities, Mang Den still faces many difficulties such as limited transport infrastructure, unsynchronized tourism services, the risk of rapid development causing pressure on the environment, lack of sustainable financial resources for conservation, while the quality of tourism human resources still fails to meet demand.
However, with its cool climate, vast green forests, unique cultural identity and the determination of the government and people, Mang Den is gradually becoming a natural resort center of Vietnam, a green growth pole in the west of the Central region, where nature and people blend in the aspiration for sustainable development.
