Build tents so people have safe places to live

These days, in Kim Van village, Van Lang commune, the water is still deep. The road to the village has become a river, many roofs are only exposed, dozens of households have to live temporarily. To provide safe shelter for people, the local government and military forces have urgently deployed temporary tents.

More than 20 households will be staying in tents, temporarily stabilizing their lives while waiting for the flood to recede.

According to statistics, Kim Van village, Van Lang commune has 27 flooded households, many of which lost all their property. Mrs. Hua Thi Bac's house is one of the most affected households. When the floodwaters poured in, the house was submerged 5-7m deep, all furniture and belongings were swept away and damaged.

“The water rose so quickly that my family only had time to move a few essential belongings, everything else was lost. The first few days, the whole family had to set up a temporary tent on the roadside,” Mrs. Bac shared.

Not only Mrs. Bac's family, currently the entire Kim Van village still has 22 households without stable housing because their houses were completely flooded. Faced with this situation, the local government and the military force have urgently stepped in, setting up temporary tents for the households to live in.

Mrs. Hua Thi Bac's family had to set up a temporary tent because the house was completely flooded.

Mr. La Van Tu, Commander of the Van Lang Commune Military Command, said: The Van Lang Commune Military Command coordinated with the Provincial Military Command and the local militia and self-defense force to quickly choose a safe location to set up a tent.

In just a day, safe tents were erected along the village’s elevated road. Under the green tarps, people felt safe from the rain and wind. Electricity, cooking, and sleeping, although still lacking, helped people have a place to stay, easing some of their worries.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hai, Kim Van village emotionally said: My house has been flooded for several days, my whole family has no place to go. We were very touched when the local government and soldiers helped us build a tent. Thanks to that, the villagers' hardship has been much less.

Tents have been erected in safe locations, ensuring people can live while waiting for the water to recede.

Lieutenant Colonel Ha Duc Hien, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Military Command, shared: The flooding situation in Kim Van village is expected to continue because the water cannot recede quickly. Therefore, setting up temporary tents is an urgent solution for people to have a safe place to live, while creating conditions for functional forces to continue implementing long-term response plans.

In difficult times, the spirit of solidarity and affection between the army and the people is multiplied. People in Kim Van village understand that, in the midst of loss, there is still a solid support: humanity, the care of local Party committees and authorities, and the timely presence of the Army - those who do not fear hardship, always "serving the people"...
