On October 6, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, in collaboration with Vietcontent and Matchroom, announced the third season of the Hanoi Open Pool Championship, taking place from December 7 at the My Dinh Indoor Athletics Sports Palace, Hanoi. After two successful seasons, the tournament has become the most anticipated event in the World Nineball Tour system.
This year's tournament brings together 256 players, including 128 players from the top of the World Nineball Tour rankings - the biggest names in the world of billiards today. Notably, the defending champion Johann Chua, World Pool Championship champion Carlo Biado, and many other top stars such as Fedor Gorst - the owner of the Grand Slam of the world's 9-ball billiards, or Jayson Shaw, Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Aloysius Yapp, Mickey Krause, outstanding young talent Albert AJ Manas...
Of the total 256 players from 40 countries, Vietnam has 68 representatives, with 40 players having passed the qualifying round to qualify for the competition. Leading the Vietnamese team is Duong Quoc Hoang - a player with stable performance and expected to create a surprise when competing on home ground.
In parallel with the main tournament, the Hanoi Junior Open for young talents was also held as a companion event, attracting 64 young players under 17 years old from all over the world to participate.
Before the tournament started, the Organizing Committee donated 100 million VND from ticket sales to support people to overcome damage caused by storms and floods initiated by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.
