Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation and Becamex Group have just had a working session to agree on a cooperation plan for investment, grid operation and ensuring electricity supply for Becamex's Industrial - Urban - Service Parks in the period 2025 - 2030.
The EVNHCMC delegation was led by Chairman of the Board of Members Pham Quoc Bao. Also attending were Deputy General Director Bui Hai Thanh; leaders of functional departments, High Voltage Grid Company, Grid Project Management Board and leaders of Binh Duong Power Company, Ben Cat Power Company, Thuan An Power Company.
Receiving the EVNHCMC delegation, on behalf of Becamex IDC Group, there were: Chairman of the Board of Directors Nguyen Van Hung; Deputy General Directors, leaders of Departments, specialized Boards and member units of Becamex - VSIP.
EVNHCMC affirms responsibility and capacity to respond
According to Becamex Group's report, the total area of Industrial - Urban - Service Parks that the group plans to invest in by 2030 is up to 12,000 hectares, with a capacity demand of about 2,826 MW and by 2045 it can reach 6,289 MW.
In many existing industrial parks such as My Phuoc 1, 2, 3; Thoi Hoa; VSIP II and VSIP II expansion, power shortages have begun to appear, affecting the production activities of enterprises. Becamex recommends that the city's electricity sector invest in a synchronous 110kV - 220kV power grid system; at the same time, closely coordinate in the work of connecting technical infrastructure to ensure stable power supply and attract new investors.

Sharing at the working session, Chairman of the Board of Members of EVNHCMC Pham Quoc Bao affirmed that ensuring power supply for Becamex Industrial Parks is not only a professional task but also a responsibility for socio -economic development of the city and region.
“It is the responsibility of EVNHCMC to ensure electricity supply for socio-economic development. In particular, Binh Duong (old) is a growth pole in industry, shifting to high-tech industry, so the demand for electricity quality is extremely high,” Mr. Pham Quoc Bao emphasized.
According to Mr. Pham Quoc Bao, EVNHCMC is currently in the top 50 power units with the world's leading smart grid, ranked 41st globally and 2nd in East Asia by the Singapore Power Group, just after Singapore.
“When receiving the Binh Duong and Ba Ria – Vung Tau power grids, EVNHCMC determined that in the first two years it would overcome all weaknesses and bring the system to a stable standard; in the 2028 – 2030 period, it would develop to a smart grid level, capable of attracting high-tech investors,” Mr. Pham Quoc Bao added.

EVNHCMC also proposed to establish a joint working group of EVNHCMC - Becamex, to review the needs and coordinate investment in priority power projects; especially 110kV transformer stations and 220kV lines directly serving VSIP, My Phuoc, Bau Bang, Cay Truong Industrial Parks...
Becamex commits to cooperate and accompany the electricity industry
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex IDC Group Nguyen Van Hung said that ensuring stable power supply is a prerequisite to retain existing investors and attract high-tech capital flows. “Before preparing to attract new investment, the first thing is to retain existing investors. If they encounter difficulties with electricity, it will certainly greatly affect the investment environment,” Mr. Nguyen Van Hung shared.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex IDC Group suggested that the two sides review all existing power stations and infrastructure projects, and speed up the progress of handing over land to implement new projects. In addition, Becamex is also working with the World Bank and AFC on developing green energy and renewable energy towards new generation, low-carbon industrial parks.

“Becamex fully supports EVNHCMC’s smart grid development orientation and is ready to coordinate investments, including in the fields of renewable energy, public transport, and metro to ensure infrastructure synchronization for the Southeast region,” Mr. Nguyen Van Hung affirmed.
Close coordination towards common goals
According to the plan, in the period of 2026 - 2030, EVNHCMC will deploy more than 20 new 110kV transformer stations and upgrade many medium and high voltage lines to meet the electricity demand of Becamex Industrial Parks. Becamex and EVNHCMC agreed to maintain a regular meeting mechanism every 3 months, along with sharing data on investment progress, electricity demand and infrastructure development planning to ensure synchronization and avoid wasting resources.
From the story of supplying electricity to Becamex, EVNHCMC is aiming for a bigger goal: ensuring energy infrastructure for the dynamic region of Ho Chi Minh City. and the South; creating a foundation for sustainable development, attracting high-tech investment and building a "green industrial belt" for the whole country.
As EVNHCMC Chairman Pham Quoc Bao emphasized: “EVNHCMC not only supplies electricity to Industrial Parks but is also building an energy foundation for the common development of Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern Key Economic Zone”.
