Attending the book launch ceremony were former Politburo member and former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung; former National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu; former National Assembly Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien, along with representatives of leaders and former leaders of National Assembly Committees, diplomats, experts, scientists...

The book 80 years of National Assembly foreign affairs - From theory to practice is considered the first in-depth research product to present a comprehensive and relatively complete view of National Assembly foreign affairs from basic theoretical issues to foreign affairs activities since its inception in 1946 until now.
The book is 542 pages thick with 5 chapters: The National Assembly and the field of foreign affairs; Bilateral foreign affairs activities of the National Assembly; The National Assembly and inter-parliamentary cooperation mechanisms; The National Assembly and international treaties; Enhancing the National Assembly's foreign affairs in the new era.

The work was cherished and compiled by author Ngo Duc Manh to express his feelings and responsibility for the important event, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026).
Speaking at the book launch ceremony, Dr. Ngo Duc Manh shared that the work records the glorious development steps of the National Assembly's foreign affairs as a deepest thank you and gratitude to the National Assembly, to the leaders of the National Assembly, leaders of the Committees through the periods and colleagues and agencies that the author was fortunate to serve and be attached to throughout his working life.

According to Dr. Ngo Duc Manh, researching and writing a book about the National Assembly's foreign affairs in the 80-year history with many events in Vietnam and the world is a huge task and not easy. There are many difficulties and limitations in the conditions of lack of sources of documents, fragmented information, making it difficult to piece together and analyze into coherent stories with depth according to the topic.
During the process of compiling the book, the author has painstakingly researched and systematized many sources of information, documents, and archives selected from many different sources to try to present and analyze as fully as possible the foreign affairs activities of the National Assembly, from the position, role, and characteristics of the National Assembly's foreign affairs, to bilateral and multilateral foreign affairs and international treaties with specific evidence and sharing from insiders, making the content of the book more attractive and highly convincing.

Sharing his thoughts on the book, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung assessed that through each part and section, we clearly see the steps of maturity and innovation of the National Assembly's foreign affairs associated with the inheritance, development and innovation of the National Assembly over the past nearly 80 years with 15 terms of operation.
The author focused on analyzing the authority of the National Assembly in the field of foreign affairs; the position, role, and explanation of the connotation of the National Assembly's foreign affairs, the subjects and methods of conducting the National Assembly's foreign affairs associated with the legal status of the National Assembly. This is both a unique characteristic and a strength of the National Assembly's foreign affairs that we need to continue to promote.

The presentation of the domestic and international situation and the Party's foreign policy, on that basis, to deploy the National Assembly's foreign affairs activities in each period, has highlighted the important participation and contribution of the National Assembly's foreign affairs to the successful implementation of the Party and State's foreign policies and guidelines.
In particular, according to former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, from his experience in foreign affairs, author Ngo Duc Manh draws successful lessons, presents directions and solutions to continue to elevate the level of National Assembly foreign affairs in the new era, showing that the development of National Assembly foreign affairs is unceasing and indispensable in a vibrant world.

According to former Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly (Term XII) Nguyen Van Son, the important value of the work is that from the research on the foreign affairs activities of the National Assembly implementing Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on international relations and the Party's foreign policy, it has generalized into theories and methods of flexible and effective foreign affairs activities of the National Assembly's foreign affairs.
"This is a monumental work in terms of historical length, spatial breadth and foreign political depth. Yet the author was able to do it in a short period of time, at the right time when it was needed. It is truly useful and practical, truly worthy of respect and admiration," said Mr. Nguyen Van Son.

Expressing surprise, interest and admiration for this work, former President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Vu Xuan Hong commented that this is a rare political work because few people dare and can write about this topic due to many reasons. It can be said that the author's enthusiasm brings readers vivid historical pages about the theory and practice of foreign affairs activities over the past 80 years of the Vietnamese National Assembly.

According to the Director of the Diplomatic Academy, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, the uniqueness of Vietnam's foreign affairs is the smooth combination of foreign affairs channels, including National Assembly diplomacy, people's diplomacy... The research work of author Ngo Duc Manh is a valuable document that contributes to clarifying the uniqueness of Vietnam's foreign affairs, with many systematic and valuable documents, serving the work of advising on foreign policies of the Party and State in the coming time.

At the ceremony, experts and scientists all agreed that, with rich content, in-depth analysis and a reasonable and scientific layout, the book 80 years of National Assembly foreign affairs - From theory to practice by Dr. Ngo Duc Manh is not only a valuable source of information for delegates, National Assembly agencies and relevant agencies and organizations in their work, but also for those interested in learning and researching the history of formation, development and innovation of National Assembly foreign affairs; serving the research, teaching and communication work about the National Assembly and National Assembly foreign affairs activities.
