FIFA appoints Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan to the International Competitions Committee

According to a document sent to VFF, FIFA said this decision was approved by the FIFA Council at the meeting on October 2, 2025, and affirmed that it will "support and create favorable conditions for Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan to successfully complete his tasks in his new position".

The National Team Competitions Committee is one of the important bodies of FIFA, with the function of advising and consulting the FIFA Council in strategic planning, building organizational regulations, as well as operating major international tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup, U20 FIFA World Cup, U17 FIFA World Cup and tournaments under the FIFA system.

The presence of Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan in the agency marks a new step forward for Vietnamese football in the global executive structure, affirming the increasingly recognized position of VFF in the international football community.

Previously, Mr. Tuan held many important positions in the continent, including the role of Chairman of the Competitions Committee of AFC and AFF, Member of the Organizing Committee of AFC Asian Cup 2023-2027, and recently Head of the Executive Committee of Men's Football at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.

Along with Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, Vietnam also has two other representatives invited to participate in FIFA's professional committees, including General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu (FIFA Medical Committee) and Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha (FIFA Women's Football Committee).

The presence of three VFF representatives in FIFA's highest executive bodies is not only a source of pride for Vietnamese football, but also a sign that Vietnam's voice is increasingly important in the development of world football.
