The world’s top content creator, MrBeast, has expressed concern that AI could threaten the jobs and incomes of millions of internet creators. Although he has experimented with the technology, he calls it a “scary time” for the content creation industry.

In a post on his personal page, MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, questioned the impact of AI-generated videos on the “millions of creators who make a living” from online platforms. With over 634 million followers and an estimated $85 million in revenue by 2024, his every statement has a huge impact on the entire industry.

So when the leader of YouTube's charts publicly expressed concerns, many creators became even more uneasy.

MrBeast's comments come after OpenAI launched Sora 2, a new version of its AI video and audio creator, and a mobile app that lets users create and share TikTok-style AI videos. The app quickly shot to the top of the US App Store charts just days after its release, demonstrating the strong appeal of the new technology.

Meanwhile, YouTube is also actively exploring AI. The platform has introduced a series of artificial intelligence-powered creative tools, including the ability to create videos using the Veo model, turn still images into animated footage, apply different visual styles, or automatically crop highlights from live videos.

MrBeast himself has experimented with AI in his work. Mid-year, he launched an AI-powered video thumbnail generator through the Viewstats platform. However, the tool faced a backlash from fans and design artists, who said it could take jobs away from humans.

MrBeast has since removed the feature and said it will replace it with links to real artists so creators can place orders directly.

While AI opens up new creative opportunities, the tech and creative communities are divided. Some believe that AI tools will make it easier for people to produce content, while others believe that human creativity remains at the core of creating quality products.

Many social media users also expressed their discomfort with the increasing number of AI videos appearing, calling it slop.
