Activities for nature
Established in 2016, Gaia Nature Conservation Center is widely known for its forest planting and nature experience programs. With the desire to connect and encourage the participation of many people, businesses, schools and especially young people, Gaia regularly organizes forest planting and protection activities in forest areas: Cuc Phuong, Ben En, Xuan Lien, Phong Dien, Bach Ma, Dong Nai, Ta Kou, Can Gio, Ca Mau .

Recently, Gaia organized a tree planting session at Ma Da forest, in Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve, the program attracted more than 100 participants. After about 2 hours of traveling from the city center, the group of volunteers arrived at Ma Da forest, ready for the task of planting 450 seedlings of 8 precious native species including: Lagerstroemia, Ba Ria rosewood, rosewood, otter oil, go mat, lim xet, sao den and trac den. Everyone attentively followed every movement of the tour guide: how to soften the soil, place the saplings straight, fill the soil firmly...
Holding hoes and a few saplings in hand, the volunteers divided into groups and went to small holes dug in the ground to plant trees. After only about 2 hours, 450 trees were firmly planted. At this time, the volunteers carefully numbered, noted and measured the height of each tree. Everyone was happy to contribute to the overall vitality of the forest. Joining Gaia on the forest planting trip in Dong Nai, Miss World Vietnam 2023 First Runner-up Dao Hien shared: “For the first time, I was able to plant a rare tree with my own hands. Through this program, I realized that planting forests is not just about planting trees, but giving nature a chance to revive.”
With the aim of spreading the love of nature and providing useful knowledge, Gaia's trips also include the activity of "forest bathing". Here, volunteers go deep into the forest, immerse themselves in the forest space, and learn about the characteristics and functions of animals and plants. In addition to learning more about the symbiotic relationship between species, this is also an opportunity for participants to admire unique forest creatures. Along the way, many people are delighted to taste a slice of ginger, or see with their own eyes the large hornbills, and the shy pheasants after the rain.
All for green space
Gaia's story does not stop at green land or unique "forest bathing" sessions, but gradually extends the journey of sustainable forest planting. Each forest is continuously cared for and monitored for 2-6 years to achieve a survival rate of 75%-86%. In addition, depending on the area, care activities are also diverse such as: tilling the soil, fertilizing, cutting vines, making firebreaks, treating pests...
With the strong interest and support from the community, Gaia Nature Conservation Center has planted more than 1,188,466 trees, covering an area of more than 513.26 hectares in 10 special-use upstream forests across Vietnam.
Ms. Do Thi Thanh Huyen, Director of Gaia Nature Conservation Center, shared: “For more than 27 years working in the field of conservation, the forest is not only where I work, but also where I learn how to live - to live slower, quieter, and more deeply. Every tree canopy, every stream, every bird call in the early morning are “teachers” reminding me of the connection, gratitude, and responsibility of humans towards nature. Therefore, my dream and Gaia’s is not only to replant lost forests, but also to sow emotions, to connect love for nature in each person’s heart.”
In addition to young people, Gaia's program also has the participation of many families, children and the elderly. Therefore, this is not only a simple environmental activity, but also a special occasion for generations in the family to become more connected. When children put a green sprout in the ground with their own hands, seeing their parents carefully cultivating the roots beside them, that is when a beautiful memory of nature is formed.
Sharing about this, Ms. Do Thi Thanh Huyen said: “When adults set an example and directly experience nature with children, the message of love for forests and responsibility for the environment will become more vivid and spread more easily than ever. The image of a family of three generations planting forests together makes me believe that the future of forests and our future is being sown by loving hands today.”
