In June 2025, the Ho Tram - Long Thanh expressway project was added by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (old) to the province's planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

This expressway project arose after the planning of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (old) for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, was approved by the Prime Minister .

Therefore, to promptly add this highway to the planning, the Prime Minister agreed to adjust the above planning according to shortened procedures.

Ho Tram - Long Thanh Expressway is about 41km long, with a scale of 4 lanes, and by 2050 will increase to 6 lanes. The land area for this project is about more than 360ha.

This highway passes through 8 communes and wards of Ho Chi Minh City including Tan Thanh, Kim Long, Ngai Giao, Nghia Thanh, Binh Gia, Xuan Son, Ho Tram and Xuyen Moc.

The investment form of the above project is proposed as public-private partnership (PPP), in which the state clears the land and the enterprise builds the highway.

According to the Regional Traffic Project Management Board and the Agricultural Sector of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (investor), the estimated cost for site clearance is more than 5,700 billion VND, and the cost for building the expressway has 3 levels from more than 18,700 billion VND to more than 20,300 billion VND.

At the survey, the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the investor and relevant departments and branches to quickly complete the documents to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for approval in August 2025.
