Workshop on solutions for developing Binh Phuoc yellow apricot trees

Nearly 100 delegates from 10 Ornamental Plant Associations of provinces and cities in the Western, Southeast and Central Highlands regions, the Ornamental Plant Association of Binh Phuoc province and businesses, farms, cooperatives, gardeners from neighboring provinces, cities, districts, towns and cities in the province participated.

Workshop "Potential and solutions for developing Binh Phuoc yellow apricot tree"

Binh Phuoc has many suitable conditions for the development of yellow apricot trees. The current market demand for yellow apricot trees in the province is about 200,000 pots, mainly consumed during the Lunar New Year. The supply from apricot growers in the province accounts for about 20% of the market share (40,000 pots), the rest is provided by the Central and Southwestern provinces. Therefore, the market potential for yellow apricot trees now and in the future in Binh Phuoc is very large.

The development orientation of Binh Phuoc yellow apricot by 2030 is to reach 80% of the market demand in the province, equivalent to about 250 hectares, the number of potted trees is about 160,000, the number of underground trees is 70,000, the total estimated value is about 800 billion VND. It is expected that the new planting area of yellow apricot in Binh Phuoc in the period 2025-2030 will increase by an average of 30 hectares per year.

Representatives of ornamental plant associations, cooperatives, and apricot gardeners gave opinions and discussed at the workshop.

The workshop is a forum for managers, scientists, businesses and farmers to exchange and share experiences and seek solutions to develop yellow apricot trees, a crop with special economic and cultural value.

The workshop also provided directions for sustainable farming methods, improved production processes, expanded consumer markets, and built the Binh Phuoc yellow apricot brand.
