Increase the number of topics and participating schools
The Student Science and Technology Award is an annual activity organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology , the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. The goal is to honor students' scientific research achievements, encourage creativity, and contribute to the training of high-quality human resources for the country.

Attending the opening ceremony were Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Hung, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Information (Ministry of Education and Training), Deputy Head of the Award Steering Committee; Dr. Vu Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Information, Standing Member of the Steering Committee; Dr. Nguyen Hai Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and members of the preliminary round selection council.
According to the Organizing Committee, in 2024 the award attracted 536 topics from 95 universities nationwide. By 2025, this number had increased to 629 topics from 113 universities.

This year’s topics span 6 fields: natural sciences; engineering and technology; medicine; agriculture ; social sciences and humanities. Notably, many projects have been published in prestigious scientific journals or supported by businesses for practical application.
Affirming the role of student scientific research
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Quach Hoai Nam, Rector of Nha Trang University, emphasized that hosting the preliminary round in 2025 is an opportunity for the university to continue to encourage students to participate in scientific research, while promoting academic cooperation and knowledge sharing within the university community.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Hung, the award not only recognizes students' research efforts but also orients the development of applied and creative topics, making practical contributions to the development of national science and technology.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the professional councils began working, evaluating and selecting typical works to enter the final round. The closing and award ceremony is expected to take place in December 2025 at Nha Trang University.
