Vietnam is currently the 6th largest trading partner of Hong Kong (China) and the 2nd largest in ASEAN in terms of trade in goods. In the first half of this year, bilateral turnover increased by more than 63% over the same period, showing the increasingly strong connection between the two sides. Personal income tax rates in Hong Kong range from 2% to 17%, among the lowest in Asia.
Low taxes and attractive scholarships
At the event “Transform yourself with studying abroad in Hong Kong” held on October 11 in Ho Chi Minh City, representatives from 8 leading universities in Hong Kong shared information about scholarships, living expenses and financial support policies for international students.
For a long time, Hong Kong has not only been known as a vibrant financial and commercial center, but also a leading educational destination in Asia.
“There are currently five Hong Kong universities in the world’s Top 100. Hong Kong aims to become an international education hub, attracting talent to study and work long-term,” said Mr. Owin Fung, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore (HKETO).

Mr. Owin Fung emphasized that Hong Kong's education system not only provides students with a university degree, but also a solid springboard to launch a global career.
With an average tuition fee of 20,000 to 32,000 USD/year (equivalent to 490 - 780 million VND) and many full scholarship programs, Hong Kong is becoming a new choice for young Vietnamese people who want to study in an international environment but still consider the cost and job opportunities.
In addition to the quality of teaching, Hong Kong is also highly regarded for its multicultural, safe and dynamic learning environment, with a very low crime rate and more than 75% of its area covered by forests and green spaces.
Almost absolute job opportunities
University programs in Hong Kong are taught entirely in English, with opportunities to participate in 2+2 joint programs, semester exchanges or internships at international companies. Students are arranged to stay in dormitories, helping to save up to 50% on living expenses.

Many Vietnamese students are starting to take an interest in Hong Kong - an educational destination with friendly tax policies, competitive costs and wide-open career opportunities after graduation.
One of the attractions for international students is the post-graduation employment policy. Students are allowed to stay in Hong Kong for up to 24 months to find a job without applying for another visa. If they continue to work here, after 7 years (including study time), they can be granted permanent residency - a rare advantage compared to many other places.
According to statistics from the University of Hong Kong, 99% of graduates from the school are employed within 6 months, with high starting salaries and good benefits. The diverse scholarship system includes full, partial or living allowance.
“The cultural similarities between Vietnam and Hong Kong helped me quickly integrate, and at the same time receive a full scholarship and an international internship opportunity in my major,” said MSc. Pham Ngoc Mau Tam, a former international student majoring in biotechnology at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
About 3,000 Vietnamese students are studying in Hong Kong in many fields such as science , business, education, arts... The procedure for applying for a student visa is quite simple, no interview is required and an electronic visa is issued, helping the admission process to be faster and more convenient.
