As noted by CNET , some iPhone 17 Pro Max models are experiencing audio system issues, resulting in the speakers emitting unwanted noises and significantly reducing the overall volume level.

This issue has been reported before on major tech sites like MacRumors , Reddit , and Apple's official customer support page. Notably, a member of CNET 's editorial team also confirmed experiencing the same speaker issue.

However, according to CNET , this is not considered a mass production defect. Currently, the news site has contacted Apple to wait for an official response.

Mr. Jeffrey Mizrahi, Senior Analyst of CNET , confirmed that the sound quality on his iPhone 17 Pro Max is "buzzed and broken" compared to the previous iPhone 16 Pro Max model. Specifically, when listening to conversations, the voice shows signs of distortion.

In addition to the tinny and crackly audio, Mizrahi also described an unusual static noise coming from the speaker when the phone was plugged in to charge via the wired USB-C port, even when the volume was set to zero.

Reports on several other forums have also confirmed the phenomenon. The strange noise has been described as sounding like a walkie-talkie, and it doesn’t appear when the device isn’t charging or is using the MagSafe wireless charger.

Similar reports of audio issues have been popping up on Apple's support forums since the iPhone 17 Pro Max launched in late September. Notably, some Reddit users have also said that the audio issue persists regardless of whether the device is charging or not.

This is the latest incident involving the iPhone 17 Pro. Previously, there was information that the anodized coating on the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max could peel off at the edges around the camera cluster. Regarding this issue, Apple responded to CNET that the appearance of small scratches on the coating is due to normal wear and tear during use.

In addition, the iPhone 17 Pro Max also encountered software problems related to the Apple Intelligence feature. Many users reported that they could not activate or download these AI features, despite updating to the latest iOS 26 platform.

This situation has caused many key features to be locked and unusable. Technology news sites said that Apple has taken note of the feedback and committed to thoroughly fixing this software error in an upcoming update.
