Opening of the 2025 Asian Rowing Championship in Hai Phong

On the morning of October 17, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong city coordinated with the Vietnam Rowing Federation to open the 2025 Asian Rowing Championship at the Hai Phong City Rowing Training Center.

Representatives of Hai Phong city leaders and the Organizing Committee presented souvenir flags to the teams.

The tournament took place from October 16-19, bringing together 668 athletes and coaches from 18 countries and territories including: India, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), Saudi Arabia, Taiwan (China), Myanmar and host country Vietnam.

During the 4 days of competition, athletes will compete in 20 events for men and women in single boats, double boats, 4-person boats and 8-person boats.

According to Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, at the national level, hosting the 2025 Asian Rowing Championships is not only an honor but also an important step forward in Vietnam's journey of international sports integration; this is a proud milestone for Vietnamese sports, demonstrating the international trust and appreciation for its organizational and professional management capacity.

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong city Tran Thi Hoang Mai delivered the opening speech of the tournament.

In her opening speech, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City Tran Thi Hoang Mai said: Hai Phong is honored to be chosen to host this tournament. In recent times, Hai Phong City has also invested in upgrading key sports and physical training facilities, serving training and competition from the grassroots level to the national and international levels, including the Hai Phong City Rowing Training Center.

This place has hosted annual national rowing competitions and is also the venue for the 31st Southeast Asian Games Rowing and Canoeing Championship (SEA Games 31), the U19, U23 Rowing and Canoeing Championship and the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship...; leaving many good impressions in the hearts of international guests and friends about the respectful and hospitable reception and the methodical and professional organization.

Within the framework of the event, the Organizing Committee also arranged a program of sightseeing and experiencing Hai Phong cuisine for the athletes and guests, aiming to promote the image of a dynamic, friendly city rich in cultural identity.
