Opening of the 1st Lai Chau Provincial Pickleball Championship 2025

Although Pickleball has only been introduced to Lai Chau province for more than a year, the practice movement has quickly spread and developed strongly. Up to now, the whole province has more than 300 Pickleball courts with about 5,000 people regularly participating in practice. This is a very encouraging signal, demonstrating the dynamism, creativity and sportsmanship of the people of all ethnic groups in the province.

The Tournament was attended by over 250 athletes from 37 delegations.

This year's tournament brings together 250 athletes from 37 delegations. The athletes compete in the following categories: Leadership Tournament; Movement Tournament.

Comrade Tong Thanh Hai - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented souvenir flags to the delegations participating in the Tournament.

In which, the men's leadership doubles tournament is divided into 2 age groups: Group I is 45 years old and under; Group II is 46 years old and over; the men's and women's leadership pairs compete in the same age group.

The amateur tournament includes: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, Mixed Doubles; athletes compete in 3 age groups: Group I under 35 years old, Group II from 36 - 45 years old and Group III from 46 years old and above.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the tournament, Mr. Tran Van Cong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Tournament emphasized: The 1st Lai Chau Provincial Pickleball Championship in 2025 - Zocker Cup Competition is a meaningful activity, aiming to create a useful playground, enhance exchange and learning between athletes, clubs and localities; at the same time, contribute to promoting the movement of physical exercise and sports, improving health and spirit for the people, better serving labor, study and work.

Comrade Tran Van Cong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Tournament delivered the opening speech.

With the spirit of "Sports: Solidarity - Honesty - Nobility - Progress", Comrade Tran Van Cong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province hopes that the athletes will compete with all their might, demonstrate the spirit of noble sportsmanship, honesty, solidarity, and achieve the highest results. At the same time, he requested the comrades in the Organizing Committee and the referee team to uphold the sense of responsibility, work impartially and objectively, manage the tournament accurately and fairly, contributing to creating a truly successful tournament, leaving many good impressions.

The tournament is expected to end on October 19. The matches will take place at Lai Chau Clean Water Joint Stock Company and the Provincial Electricity Company.
