The festival is an occasion to commemorate the merits of National Hero Le Loi and ancestors of the Later Le Dynasty, and at the same time promote the image of Thanh Hoa land and people to tourists inside and outside the province.

In a solemn atmosphere, the ceremony opened with a traditional palanquin procession, followed by an incense offering ceremony to inform Emperor Thai To Cao Hoang and a reading of a eulogy commemorating the contributions of King Le Thai To and the generals and soldiers of Lam Son army.

After the ceremony, the festival part with the art program "Lam Son's heroic spirit - Shining forever", was elaborately staged. The program included 3 chapters "Lam Son's heroic spirit - Heroes gather righteousness", "Binh Dinh Vuong crowned Emperor" and "Following the footsteps of his ancestors - Thanh Hoa on the path of innovation and development" recreated the great achievements and careers of the cloth-clothed hero Le Loi and his generals, the heroic atmosphere of the Lam Son uprising more than 600 years ago, bringing a heroic, sacred and proud atmosphere of the glorious history of the nation...

Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Dau Thanh Tung affirmed that Lam Kinh Festival is an important cultural event, expressing gratitude and honoring the contributions and sacrifices of National Hero Le Loi, generals, soldiers and people across the country in the cause of building and defending the country. Promoting the Lam Son spirit, on the eve of the 20th Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups are determined to unite, promote the tradition of patriotism and revolution, and build Thanh Hoa into one of the leading provinces in the country.

607 years ago, in the spring of Mau Tuat year 1418, in Lam Son mountain forest, now Lam Son commune (old Tho Xuan district), Le Loi and many heroes raised the flag of uprising, sent out proclamations to recruit heroes from all over, and called on the people to fight against the invading Ming army. After 10 long years of "tasting gall, lying on thorns" with heroic and resilient will and the military art of "using the weak to fight the strong, using the few to fight the many", in 1428 the Lam Son uprising won complete victory. After the country was at peace , in 1428, Le Loi ascended the throne as Emperor, took the reign name Thuan Thien, restored the national name Dai Viet and established the Later Le dynasty which lasted for more than 360 years. Lam Son became a place to worship ancestors, the resting place of kings and queens. Along with Dong Kinh - the political, economic and cultural center of the country under the post-Le dynasty - Lam Kinh, also known as Tay Kinh (now the Lam Kinh National Special Historical Site), became a sacred land, where everyone turns to their roots with respect, admiration and gratitude to their ancestors.

With such great values, in 1962, Lam Kinh was ranked as a National Historical Relic. In 2012, it was recognized as a Special National Relic according to Decision No. 1419/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister . In recent years, Lam Kinh relic has received large investment resources to serve the conservation and promotion of its values. Recently, at the end of July 2025, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province approved the project to renovate, restore and embellish a number of important items in the Lam Kinh Special National Relic Site such as the restoration of 4 Thai Mieu buildings (No. 1, 2, 8 and 9), the restoration of the Hang Dau temple, the construction of a gate to the relic site... with a total cost of more than 81 billion VND and implemented in the period 2025 - 2027.

More than 6 centuries have passed, Lam Kinh - a symbol of national pride in a heroic historical period of fighting against invaders and building the Dai Viet nation - still retains its historical, cultural, architectural and artistic values that are preserved, honored and protected. In particular, Lam Kinh Festival is maintained as a fine tradition, expressing the gratitude of today's generation to the ancestors who fought against foreign invaders and built the homeland.
