According to the head coach of the Vietnamese petanque team, Dang Xuan Vui, the Vietnamese athletes even have a chance to win 13-0 in this match. After all, the score of 13-1 is one of the most unequal scores in the matches so far between Vietnamese petanque and Thailand – always considered the best in the world .
In this year's tournament, Vietnam has 2 teams participating in the women's trio event. Of which, Vietnam team 2 consists of 4 athletes: Nguyen Thi Thi, Lai Thi Dung ( Hanoi ), Nguyen Thi Thuy Kieu (Army), Nguyen Thi Nhu Y (Ho Chi Minh City). Among the 4 athletes, Nguyen Thi Thi regularly plays in official competitions, deserving to be the pillar of the team with stable performance. Meanwhile, the remaining 3 athletes compete in rotation.
In the tournament, both teams Vietnam 1 and Vietnam 2 were exempted from the first round. In the second round, Vietnam 1 beat Taiwan (China) 13-5, while Vietnam 2 beat Czech Republic 13-6. In the quarter-finals, the two teams had to face each other directly and Vietnam 2 won 13-3 to enter the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Vietnam 2 beat Belgium 13-10 despite being down 6-0 at one point. And in the final, Vietnam 2 excelled in defeating Thailand to win the championship.
This gold medal is also the second consecutive world gold medal for Vietnamese petanque in the women's trio event. In 2023, at the Women's Petanque World Championship in Thailand, the Vietnamese team won the women's trio event for the first time after a 13-12 victory over host Thailand.
This is also the first time Hanoi petanque has contributed athletes to the world championship team in this event.
