On the evening of September 14, Dong Nai won 3-1 against Becamex TP.HCM, winning a ticket to the 1/8 round of the 2025/26 National Cup. The goals of the Southeast team were scored by Sandro, Minh Vuong and Tu Nhan.

Notably, in this match, striker Nguyen Cong Phuong was not registered in the competition list, even though he had previously trained very hard to prepare for the new season.

After the match, coach Nguyen Viet Nam revealed that Cong Phuong had a slight pain, so the striker wearing the number 10 shirt was asked to rest and continue to monitor his health. Coach Viet Thang will discuss with Cong Phuong and the medical team to decide on his ability to play in the first round of the First Division.

Commenting on Dong Nai's victory, the former Vietnamese player said: "We still have a lot to do. We are happy to win, but the work continues. My job is to continue correcting the players' mistakes. They are good, but still need to improve a lot."

The captain of Dong Nai Club especially praised Minh Vuong - who had a great goal in the match, he said: "10 points for him is not enough, simply saying that is enough".

In the round of 16 of the National Cup, Dong Nai will host Ha Tinh at home on November 22. Minh Vuong expressed his determination: "This season, my team and I's goal is to compete as far as possible in the National Cup. With the current force, we will join hands to solve each match, aiming for the bigger goal of bringing Dong Nai back to the V-League next season."
