Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Hang (born 1987, My Hanh commune) shared: “This year I saw many cute mini paper lanterns. I bought them for my children and they really liked them. In particular, battery-operated paper lanterns are much safer than the candles of the past.”

Besides electronic lanterns, traditional glass paper lanterns are sold in Long An ward.

Some retailers said that although modern lanterns still account for a large number, the purchasing power of traditional lanterns this year has shown signs of increasing. Ms. Nhi, a grocery store owner in Long An ward, said: “I imported 500 mini glass paper lanterns and they sold out in just 3 days. Meanwhile, electronic lanterns are selling more slowly.”

Not only children, but also young people find the joy of childhood through cellophane lanterns. Nguyen Thi Tuong Vy, a student at Long An College, confided: “Even though I am grown up, I still like cellophane lanterns, especially the small, compact, and cute mini models. I bought a few to decorate my house, and it feels like reliving the atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival.”

Glass paper lanterns are now not only toys, but also become decorative accents in many coffee shops. At CAO COFFEE (Long An ward), hundreds of glass paper lanterns are hung throughout the space, bringing a familiar beauty and the essence of Vietnamese Mid-Autumn Festival.

Mr. Cu Hoang Minh Tan - Shop Manager, said: "We chose to decorate with glass paper lanterns to create a warm, traditional feeling. Customers coming to the shop, especially families with young children, are very excited, enjoying coffee and taking souvenir photos."

With the change of time, many artisans have also created, combining traditional materials with LED bulbs instead of candles, both ensuring safety and helping the lantern light to be more brilliant and long lasting.

Mid-Autumn Festival 2025, among the myriad of modern toys, the shimmering light from the glass paper lanterns still shines in its own way.
