On June 10, speaking with VietNamNet, Mr. Vi Xuan Hiep - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chieng Hac commune (Moc Chau district, Son La province) confirmed that yesterday morning, the local government received information from people about the discovery of 2 individuals suspected to be tigers in the forest area of Pu Phang 1 village, Tat Ngoang village.

"Immediately after receiving the report from the people, we notified the forest rangers of Moc Chau district and issued a document directing the management boards of the villages and neighboring areas to warn people not to move, pass by, chase, use weapons, or impact the two tigers," Mr. Hiep informed.

According to Mr. Hiep, at present these two suspected tigers have not affected people’s lives. However, this is a ferocious animal so people are very vigilant.

“For the past few decades, there have been no tigers in the commune. The area of forest where tigers are suspected to be living is very small, about 2 hectares, so people in the commune are very scared,” Mr. Hiep informed.

According to Mr. Hiep, these two suspected tigers could be in Chieng Khua commune because this commune still has many deep forests, or from Laos.

To ensure the safety of people and livestock, the People's Committee of Chieng Hac commune has directed the management boards of Tat Ngoang village, Pa Phang 1 village, Pieng Lan village and neighboring villages in areas suspected of being inhabited by tigers to propagate to people not to move, pass by, chase away, use weapons, or affect the tigers, affecting the monitoring work of competent authorities.

At the same time, propagate people to move livestock and poultry to safe places to avoid negative impacts from the two suspected tigers mentioned above.

When knowing information about the above 2 suspected tigers, people can immediately report to the People's Committee of Chieng Hac commune.
