The soldier sowed faith on the border

For 10 years working with the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Hoa commune, Bu Dop district, Binh Phuoc province, now Thien Hung commune, Dong Nai province, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan, Deputy Head of the Mass Mobilization Team of Tan Thanh Border Guard Station (Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard Command) has persistently campaigned for new rural construction and social security. His dedication and exemplary role have brought about profound changes in life, firmly consolidating the trust of people in the border area.

Imbued with Uncle Ho's teaching: "If you are good at mass mobilization, everything will be successful", therefore, regardless of the circumstances, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan always upholds the spirit of responsibility, stays close to the grassroots, is closely attached to the people, and persistently mobilizes people to understand and join hands for the benefit of the community.

Heart for the people

Since 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan (then an officer of Thanh Hoa Border Guard Station) has been assigned to Thanh Hoa commune with the task of advising the Party Committee on propaganda, mass mobilization and creating sources for developing party members. As Deputy Head of the Commune Propaganda Department, he always takes studying and following the ideology, morality and style of President Ho Chi Minh as a guideline for action.

In the work of building new rural areas, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan is a pioneer in mobilizing people to donate land, expand roads, and contribute to changing the face of rural border areas in recent years. In 2022, Mr. Tuan directly mobilized people to donate 1,500 m² of land, voluntarily cut down 70 rubber trees, 15 cashew trees and many other crops to expand and upgrade about 10km of red gravel and asphalt roads. He also mobilized people to build 900m of cement concrete roads in groups 1, 3, 4 and more than 830m in other areas with a total value of more than 74.7 million VND.

Not only that, in recent years, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan has also pioneered the model of Lighting up the Countryside Roads, mobilizing people to contribute funds to install 43 solar-powered lamp posts on 2km of road, with a total cost of nearly 46 million VND. At night, the light from those lamp posts not only illuminates the road but also brings confidence and safety to each person. The system of 9 security cameras that he mobilized to install has helped the authorities promptly detect and prevent violations, contributing to maintaining security and order in the locality.

In 2024 alone, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan successfully mobilized many resources, focusing on improving cultural life and grassroots security. Specifically, he mobilized more than 27 million VND to buy projectors and 15 million VND to make sports equipment at the cultural house. In addition, he promoted the purchase of health insurance, built roads, implemented the Self-Saving Movement for the poor and mobilized 11.8 million VND to support people in the North affected by natural disasters.

In 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan was recognized as a typical example of progress in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style. He is a highly responsible officer who always completes his tasks excellently, is a "bridge" connecting the people with the government, and contributes to building a solid people's border defense posture at the Fatherland's border.

Practice what you preach, for the benefit of the people

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan also pays special attention to poverty reduction and social security. In 2022, he provided technical guidance to help 4 local households escape poverty and mobilized support for students in difficult circumstances not to drop out of school. Specifically, he mobilized 4 students who dropped out of school to return to school, thereby strongly spreading the spirit of mutual love in the community.

During the 2021-2025 period, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan always completed his tasks excellently and was recognized by the Party Committee of the old Thanh Hoa commune as a typical example of progress in studying and following Uncle Ho. He was also the Party Secretary of Hamlet 1, directly directing movements, contributing to consolidating the grassroots political system, strengthening the great national unity bloc, and ensuring security and order in border areas.

For Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan, doing mass mobilization is done with enthusiasm and trust in the people. "Words go hand in hand with actions, doing for the benefit of the people" he is always exemplary and dedicated. He proactively guides people to apply science and technology in production, contributing to improving people's lives, and is trusted and supported by the people.

Over the years, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan has also voluntarily donated nearly 30 million VND of his own money to support the construction of cultural houses, purchase projectors, install curtains, support the people of the North to overcome the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi (September 2024), support poor households and purchase sports equipment for the community. For him, these contributions, although small, contribute to fostering solidarity and attachment between the army and the people.

Spreading faith at the border

Mr. Mai Cong Danh, Head of Hamlet 1, Thien Hung Commune, commented: Local people consider Mr. Tuan as a relative. His spirit of solidarity and volunteering to take the lead in mass mobilization work has strengthened the solidarity between the army and the people, helped people receive timely support and strengthened their trust in the Party Committee and the government.

Major Nguyen Minh Hoang, Deputy Political Commissar of Thanh Hoa Border Guard Station, said: During the period of strengthening the grassroots from 2015 to 2025, comrade Nguyen Danh Tuan was a typical example in mass mobilization work and local development. He was always exemplary, dedicated, and gave effective advice, contributing to strengthening the people's trust.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan always humbly believes that what he does is the responsibility of a party member, a soldier of Uncle Ho. “I just hope that people believe in the Party and the border guards. When the people are peaceful and strong, the border will be stable,” Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Danh Tuan shared.

Border guard Nguyen Danh Tuan is a typical image of a soldier in the new era: Loyal, exemplary and devoted to the people. His example is spreading faith, fostering the aspiration to build the Dong Nai border region to become increasingly prosperous and peaceful.
