The captain awarded certificates of full attendance to the candidates.

This special achievement stems from Nam Son winning a high prize in the international competition “Nuclear Energy for Peace ” organized by the Russian Federation Nuclear Energy Corporation. This year, the competition entered its 6th season, attracting nearly 67,000 students, including nearly 4,000 students from 20 countries.

After rigorous selection rounds (including online writing and presentations), the Organizing Committee selected 66 excellent candidates, including 46 Russian students and 20 international students, representing 20 countries, to participate in the Arctic expedition on the nuclear icebreaker “50 Years of Victory”.

Preparing for the trip, the first thing Nam Son chose was the red flag with a yellow star of the Fatherland. He spent the entire summer vacation collecting images and documents about the country and people of Vietnam, ready to introduce them to international friends. With a confident and proud attitude, every step he took on the ice was imbued with the Vietnamese spirit.

The journey to the North Pole lasted five days. The icebreaker crossed the Barents and Kara seas, following thin ice sheets and open water, before entering the northernmost point of the earth.

Unlike the South Pole, the North Pole has no land but only thick ice blocks floating on the sea surface, with an average depth of about 4,000m. This is also the only place on the planet where all meridians converge, all directions point south. In August, when Nam Son and his friends set foot, the North Pole still had the last sunlight before the dark season lasted for many months.

In the cold of 0°C, the red flag with yellow star fluttered in the middle of the vast sea of ice. Nam Son emotionally shared: I carried the national spirit, so that the Vietnamese flag could be present at the northernmost point of the world .

Nguyen Nam Son’s journey is not only a memorable personal experience, but also a vivid testament to the intelligence, courage and aspiration of Vietnamese youth. From Hanoi, a thousand years of culture, to the far North Pole, the red flag with yellow star always flies, affirming the position and image of Vietnam in the international community.

The national flag flying on the Arctic ice has become a symbol of the young generation's aspiration to rise up and contribute, while also contributing to spreading the message of a Vietnam rich in tradition, innovative and ready to integrate with friends around the world.
