Together to overcome difficulties

The first classes after days of terrible floods at Doi Can 1 Primary School, Phan Dinh Phung Ward, have returned with a bustling atmosphere. The sun is still golden, the clear singing voices of students resound in the schoolyard. Although the traces of natural disasters are still there, with the love for the profession, the efforts of teachers, parents and the cooperation of the community, the beloved school is gradually stabilizing again, maintaining the teaching and learning routine. Doi Can 1 Primary School currently has 61 staff, teachers and nearly 1,400 students.

According to teacher Nguyen Thi Huong, Principal of Doi Can 1 Primary School, preliminary statistics show that the entire school has 25 teachers and about 750 students who were severely affected by the recent floods. Many students fell into difficult circumstances when their houses were damaged, their property was swept away, or even lost. Many families' livelihoods were affected, making it difficult for their children to return to school.

Currently, the school is working closely with local authorities, social organizations and parents to quickly stabilize teaching and learning activities, and mobilize resources to support students severely affected by natural disasters. The immediate goal is to help students return to school soon, continuing their learning journey in safer and more complete conditions.

In the immediate future, the school has mobilized 139 sets of textbooks from the library for use by grades 1 to 5. All of these books have been given to students in difficult circumstances, helping them temporarily overcome the lack of learning materials, stabilize their psychology and feel secure in returning to study.

Not only the education sector was heavily affected, the recent floods also seriously impacted agricultural production in Thai Nguyen province, especially tea, the main crop and also the pride of the locality.

Currently, the whole province has about 24,000 hectares of tea, of which nearly 23,000 hectares are producing, with an average yield of nearly 18 tons/ha. However, after storms and floods, many tea areas were flooded and eroded, significantly affecting the growth of the plants as well as the quality of the harvested buds. Some newly planted tea areas are even at risk of total loss if not restored promptly.

Not only causing productivity loss, natural disasters also cause difficulties for many tea processing and purchasing facilities, disrupting the supply chain, significantly reducing the income of tea growers. Thousands of households that depend on tea are facing many challenges.

Faced with this situation, authorities at all levels are urgently reviewing, calculating the damage and developing plans to support people in restoring production. The focus is on land improvement, dredging canal systems, supporting new varieties and providing technical guidance on post-disaster care.

Quickly return to normal life

Although there are still many difficulties after the natural disaster, day by day, hour by hour, Thai Nguyen is gradually returning to normal life. That revival comes not only from the efforts of the Party Committees, authorities and people, but is also fueled by the deep love for the homeland, expressed in very unique ways by the young generation.

One of the vivid examples is the photojournalism project “Homeland Revival” carried out by the group of young people Nang Media (Phan Dinh Phung Ward). Immediately after storm No. 11 passed, Nguyen Ngoc, a member of the group, and his friends took their cameras and roamed around the affected areas to capture authentic moments.

Nguyen Ngoc shared: Right after witnessing the devastation of our homeland after the storm and flood, my friends and I just wanted to contribute our small part. The photo series “Homeland Revival” not only records the loss, but also wants to show everyone how resilient our homeland is.

Through the language of authentic, emotional and expressive photography, the project is not only a visual document of an unforgettable period, but also a hopeful message about the resilience, solidarity and beauty of Thai Nguyen people in their journey to overcome challenges.

From faces covered in mud but eyes still shining with faith, to hands working together to clean up and rebuild roofs, each frame contains a story of revival not only of the material, but also of the spirit.

“Reviving Homeland” is not only the name of a photo series, but has become a symbol for the enduring journey of reconstruction, where humanity, love and faith are the glue that binds us together, the motivation for each person to continue moving forward. Smiles have returned not only to the lips of children, farmers or soldiers, but also to the hearts of every Thai Nguyen citizen. Smiles of faith, solidarity and enduring vitality in this resilient land...

From hardship, Thai Nguyen once again proved the strength of the community, of the spirit of "love - compassion - sharing" which has become a cultural feature of this land. More than material losses, it is the humanity, resilience and aspiration to rise up that make up the bravery of Thai Nguyen today. And also from the losses, we see more clearly the value of solidarity, of faith and love for the homeland, things that no storm or flood can wash away.
