People's Artist, Colonel Vi Hoa surprises with new role at age 60

People's Artist, Army Colonel Vi Hoa, born in 1965, was awarded the title of People's Artist at the age of 50. Although she retired in 2021, she is still actively participating in artistic activities. She rarely appears at events, but recently the audience was surprised to see the female artist model for the first time for her close younger brother's design on the occasion of her 30th anniversary in the profession.

Designer Hoang Ly has been persistently attached to the traditional Vietnamese ao dai for 30 years. She has had hundreds of ao dai collections. Each collection is a slice of culture, a story told through the traditional national ao dai such as: Ninh Binh , Motherland, Tinh Hoa Viet, Tre Xanh - Imprint of Vietnamese beauty... The most memorable of which is the ao dai collection Imprint of Time which has been set a Guinness Vietnam record with 468 ancient patterns.

Currently, designer Hoang Ly is the Chairman of the Vietnam Ao Dai Culture Club. In 2024, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, the Club organized a formation of the Hanoi flagpole and the bird of peace with 700 women wearing Ao Dai, which was set as a Guinness Vietnam record. "Through these activities, I want to have a place for Ao Dai lovers to come together to preserve and spread this beauty. The Club is also a bridge to bring the image of Vietnamese Ao Dai to international friends" - Designer Hoang Ly expressed.

Most recently, designer Hoang Ly has launched the collection National flowers resounding around the world . The collection by designer Hoang Ly puts the national flowers and national flags of 41 countries on the Vietnamese ao dai and is performed to the background music of the mashup "Hello Vietnam" and "Aspiration for Peace" performed by People's Artist Vi Hoa and singer Du Thien. The special highlight of the collection is the subtle blend between the traditional Vietnamese ao dai - a thousand-year-old cultural heritage - and the soul of the world's national flower.

Not only modeling for designer Hoang Ly at the event, the People's Artist also contributed her voice to a song.

People's Artist Vi Hoa shared with VietNamNet that she has accompanied designer Hoang Ly in many programs and today, on the occasion of Hoang Ly's 30th anniversary, People's Artist Vi Hoa appeared as a model and accompanying singer. Although she has stood on many stages singing for audiences throughout her 30-year career, at the age of 60, for the first time, People's Artist Vi Hoa appeared on the catwalk as a model.

"I am also surprised at myself because at this age I have the opportunity to accompany young models and I think I can do it. I think each age has a different beauty and I am confident when I step onto the catwalk with young people. I accompany designer Hoang Ly not for any reason because everyone has a different value and the important thing is that I know how to give that value and see the joy of the audience who love me when they see People's Artist Vi Hoa appear in a different capacity. Maybe I still sing but I am also a 60-year-old model," People's Artist Vi Hoa said.
