Born in 1975 in Nam Cuong commune, Nam Truc, Nam Dinh province (now Nam Truc commune, Ninh Binh province), graduated as a doctor in 1999, defended her doctoral thesis in 2013, Colonel, PhD, specialist II Doan Thi Hang is currently the Deputy Director of the Military Clinical Embryology Institute (Military Medical Academy).

For more than two decades working in the field of reproductive support, she and her colleagues have written "fairy tales" in everyday life - where thousands of babies were born, bringing laughter and tears of happiness to many infertile families.

For her, each case is not only a medical challenge, but also a journey of understanding, sharing and accompanying the patient.

From anxiety to the journey of sowing happiness

“I have met and listened to many infertile women share their stories. Each time, I feel extremely sorry and sad. Many of them have to endure heavy psychological pressure, even harshness from their husband's family. There are words that seem unintentional but deeply hurt women, they say things like 'A poisonous tree does not bear fruit, a poisonous woman does not have children'…”, Ms. Hang confided.

Colonel, PhD, Specialist II Doan Thi Hang, Deputy Director of the Military Clinical Embryology Institute (Military Medical Academy) has made the dreams of finding children come true for many infertile couples.

It is these concerns that have fueled Dr. Hang to keep her determination burning for over 20 years, making the dreams of finding children for infertile couples come true.

For every small family, having a child is the dream of every couple. But it does not always come true soon. For families with infertility, the sound of happiness is nothing more than the sound of a child calling “Mom and Dad!”.

That period of time, for thousands of soldiers with infertility, seems even longer, because many soldiers have to be stationed far from home. All of this makes the desire to have a child even more intense…

Children are the bond that connects the soldiers on the far-off front lines with the home front. Loving, understanding and sympathizing with their husbands, the wives are also full of determination on the journey to find their children.

Coming to the Military Clinical Embryology Institute, couples, both soldiers and civilians, feel more confident because their concerns have been shared and sympathized with by the dedication of the staff, including Dr. Doan Thi Hang. Because she always believes that in order to treat well, the doctor must first put himself in the patient's shoes. He must know how to listen, understand, encourage, and patiently accompany the patient and his family throughout a long journey.

During her years working in the field of reproductive support, Dr. Hang has encountered and successfully treated many difficult cases. Especially with long-term infertility cases, she is always close, encouraging and finding the best treatment methods for patients.

And perhaps, with her major, there will be no greater happiness than when the seeds of love have blossomed and borne fruit.

Sharing about the hardships of her job, Ms. Hang confided: “Although the job is hard, most of the time every day is spent in the hospital environment, but every time I see the happy smiles of mothers and their families, when the children are born healthy, I feel very happy and forget all the fatigue. That happiness is the priceless reward of a doctor.”

With her experience and ability to examine and treat diseases, Dr. Hang has examined, consulted and treated thousands of infertile couples, treating problems related to reproductive health.

The devoted "ferryman" on the river of knowledge

Not only is she a highly skilled doctor, Colonel Doan Thi Hang is also a dedicated lecturer at the Military Medical Academy, contributing to training many generations of physicians in the fields of Embryology and assisted reproduction.

The years of medical examination and treatment also created a foundation for her teaching career. With her love for the profession, she directly taught students such as: long-term military and civilian medical students, graduate students, residents, specialists I, specialists II, PhD students in the field of Embryology and some related fields, and participated in training courses in continuing education in reproductive support...

In training, Dr. Hang also actively participates in compiling teaching materials for university training programs (training military and civilian doctors) and postgraduate training programs (master's, doctorate, specialist I, specialist II in Embryology).

From treatment to training, new techniques continue to be passed on to many generations of students, so that when they return to work at hospitals and medical centers across the country, they continue their mission of bringing the opportunity to become parents to infertile couples.

In addition to training and treatment, Dr. Hang also participates in research and presides over projects at the Academy, Ministry, and State levels. She participates in writing articles published in specialized scientific journals at home and abroad. In her dedicated journey to the profession, she has recorded many outstanding achievements such as: Title of Excellent Lecturer at the Academy level in 2018, 2019, 2021; Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level in 2018, 2021, 2022; Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in 2023; Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of National Defense in 2024...

In each lecture, she not only brings her students useful knowledge in the fields of Embryology and Assisted Reproduction, but also improves her own knowledge and communication skills, and can suggest new research directions.

For her, science is a constant flow, always requiring practitioners to learn and innovate every day. And on that journey, each patient is like a “special teacher” - helping Dr. Doan Thi Hang to be more motivated to find solutions for new cases, difficult cases and even rare cases.

Just like that, the female soldier wearing the cross and white blouse is persistent on the journey to multiply happiness in every family, and persistently carrying out the mission of a ferryman on the river of knowledge, to train many generations of doctors specializing in infertility treatment in the future.

When talking about Colonel Doan Thi Hang, Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Doctor Nghiem Duc Thuan, Political Commissar of the Military Medical Academy commented: "In the position of Deputy Director of the Military Clinical Embryology Institute, she always upholds the spirit of responsibility, is dedicated to her work, is passionate about scientific research, constantly learns, innovates, and is creative in professional work.

Comrade Hang is a typical example of a physician-soldier, always devoted to the health of soldiers and people; has many works and scientific research topics of high practical value, contributing to enhancing the reputation of the Military Medical Academy and the Military Clinical Embryology Institute in the field of infertility treatment.
