This is an activity organized by the Provincial Literature and Arts Association in collaboration with Pleiku Museum. According to Associate Professor, Doctor, painter Trang Thanh Hien (Vietnam University of Fine Arts), this reunion will be a source of inspiration to promote the development of the community of female painters across the three regions of the country.

Artist Trang Thanh Hien said: The idea of organizing an exhibition of female artists from the North - Central - South arose in 2010, creating a new playground in the Vietnamese art scene. The exhibition "Returning to the Red Land" marks the 11th milestone of the game, and this is the first time this artistic journey has set foot in Gia Lai - a red basalt land with the majestic beauty of mountains and forests, and a fascinating cultural identity.
At the exhibition, which runs until November 10, 2025, the public will have the opportunity to admire 50 works by 30 female artists, expressed on many different materials, from oil paint, lacquer to silk, dó paper... The themes of the works are also very broad, from landscapes, still life, portraits, daily life, festivals... with a unique painting language. The diversity in style and creative personality contributes to creating an art space that is worth looking forward to.

At the exhibition, art lovers will meet famous names of contemporary Vietnamese fine arts such as: Nguyen Thi Tam, Cao Thi Duoc, Dang Thi Duong (Ho Chi Minh City); Ngo Dinh Bao Vi (Hue); Ho Thi Xuan Thu (Gia Lai); Bui Mai Hien, Trang Thanh Hien, Nguyen Thi Lan Huong, Tao Thu Huong ( Hanoi )...
Many young authors also participated, as evidence of the spirit of continuity and inheritance of the values that have been passed down. Particularly in Gia Lai, a number of 8X artists who have been creating their own mark were also invited to participate in the exhibition such as: Le Nguyen Thao My, Nguyen Nguyen But, Mai Thi Kim Uyen, Chau Ai Van, Le Thi Thanh, Le Thi Kim Thuy...
Sharing the joy of meeting new faces, artist Cao Thi Duoc said: “Besides many veteran female artists with many awards at domestic and international exhibitions, there are many female artists participating in this exhibition for the first time. They are the ones who bring new values to the exhibition, to see that the community of Vietnamese female artists is growing.”
Female artist Nguyen Thi Lan Huong, one of the first to initiate the game for female artists from the three regions, proudly shared: From the first exhibition in Hanoi in 2010 with only 10 female artists participating, this playground has been maintained annually (except during the Covid-19 period), attracting a 3-fold increase in the number of participants.
“Women working in the arts often have to overcome prejudices, barriers and make adequate arrangements for each person’s natural calling. Yet, you have done it and done it well for a game that is no less artistically qualified than male artists. This is proof of the strong creative qualities of women,” said artist Nguyen Thi Lan Huong.

Participating in the exhibition for the fifth time by female artists from the North - Central - South, female artist Ho Thi Xuan Thu, the representative of the "host" at this year's exhibition, expressed her hospitality: "The red basalt land of Gia Lai is a place that contains countless valuable cultural and artistic data of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands. Therefore, this exhibition can be considered a creative inspiration for female artists not only in Gia Lai but also in all regions of the country, so that they can understand and love this land more."
Similarly, artist Trang Thanh Hien affirmed that “Returning to the Red Land” is a trip that most female artists look forward to with new experiences. “Going to new lands is an opportunity for us to be ourselves, to explore and build strong emotions for the path of artistic creation,” artist Hien expressed.
