After nearly a year leading MU, Amorim has not been able to help the "Red Devils" regain their original position. The team is ranked 10th in the Premier League table, 6 points behind the leader Arsenal. Inconsistent performance and a lack of identity in playing style have recently raised questions about the 40-year-old coach's future.
In the face of criticism from the media, Sir Jim Ratcliffe spoke out to defend Amorim, while affirming that the club will not make hasty decisions.
“Amorim hasn’t had his best season yet, but Ruben needs time to prove himself as a good coach. I think about three years is a reasonable amount of time,” Ratcliffe said.
He added: “The media always wants instant success, as if you just flip a switch and everything will change. But football doesn’t work that way. MU cannot be controlled by the momentary reactions or subjective opinions of the press."
With Amorim's future still uncertain, many names have been rumored to be in the "hot seat" at Old Trafford, including Oliver Glasner, Gareth Southgate, Zinedine Zidane and Unai Emery.
However, the 2-0 victory over Sunderland on October 4 helped Amorim to temporarily relieve the pressure. After the international break, MU will have a difficult away trip to Liverpool's Anfield on October 19.
