2,000-year-old carving discovered in drought

When the river water dried up, a series of ancient carvings suddenly appeared. Archaeologists believe that this could be traces of a vanished civilization.

“Ancient civilizations created carvings using tools such as axes made from crushed stone; These human faces convey emotions, both happy and sad. As we can analyze, some are smiling, others are depressed. We can even say that these carvings represent a state of mind and also reflect part of what they experienced during that period,” Jaime Oliveira, an expert from the Brazilian Institute of Historical Heritage, said.
