An international team of experts, including scientists from Massey University (New Zealand), in collaboration with the University of Western Australia (Australia) and two universities in China, conducted a systematic analysis and synthesis of 12 studies, including 230 participants. These were healthy adults who were doing resistance training or regular physical activity. All were given caffeine (3-12 mg/kg body weight) in capsule or liquid form, 60 minutes before performing resistance exercises such as squats to study the effects of caffeine on exercise.
The results showed that consuming caffeine before exercise can help increase movement speed and muscle power during resistance exercise, reinforcing caffeine's role as a "natural performance enhancer" favored by athletes , according to News Medical.

Specifically, drinking coffee significantly increases exercise speed, exercise capacity, and muscle strength, especially in lower body exercises.
Notably, the strongest effect was in men and those who habitually drank less than 2 cups of coffee per day. Meanwhile, in women and those who usually drank 2-3 cups of coffee per day, the effect was much weaker.
Experts conclude that consuming coffee is a simple and effective way to increase speed and exercise capacity, especially in men and people who have the habit of drinking less than 2 cups of coffee per day. However, to achieve maximum benefits without side effects, it is necessary to choose the appropriate dosage according to each person's physical condition and usage habits, according to News Medical.
