Long Bien Ward commends good and studious girls on International Day of the Girl Child October 11

HNP - Responding to the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11 launched by the United Nations with the theme of 2025 "Investing in girls for family happiness, for the future of the country", on the morning of October 5, at the Ward Party Committee Hall, the People's Committee of Long Bien Ward coordinated with the Hanoi Department of Health to organize a conference to commend good and studious girls in exemplary families that have well implemented population policies.

Attending the Conference were comrades: Hoang Thi Thom - Deputy Director of the Department of Population, Ministry of Health ; Vu Duy Hung - Director of the Department of Population, Children and Prevention of Social Evils, Hanoi; Pham Thi Bich Hang - Vice Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Primary Health Care and Health Programs of Long Bien Ward; representatives of Health Stations of communes and wards: Viet Hung, Bo De, Long Bien, Phu Dong; along with many delegates, parents and 80 typical girls representing thousands of children in Long Bien Ward.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Vu Duy Hung - Head of the Hanoi Department of Population, Children and Social Evils Prevention and Control emphasized that the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11 is an opportunity for the whole world to pay more attention to the issues of discrimination, violence and gender inequality against girls. 2025 is also the 15th anniversary of the United Nations officially recognizing this day, with a strong message affirming that investing in girls is investing in the future of the country.

According to comrade Vu Duy Hung, Hanoi has reached the replacement level of fertility, the sex ratio at birth has tended to decrease but is still at a high level, requiring strong and synchronous participation of all levels of government and the whole society.

"Caring for, educating and creating conditions for girls to develop comprehensively is not only a humanitarian responsibility but also an important solution to build high-quality human resources for the capital and the country in the future," emphasized comrade Vu Duy Hung.

Leaders of the Department of Population and the Department of Population presented flowers and gifts to good and studious girls in exemplary families.

The Head of the Hanoi Department of Population, Children and Social Evils Prevention also acknowledged the efforts of Long Bien Ward in implementing population - health activities, communication on gender equality, adolescent reproductive health care, and especially the organization of the Conference to honor outstanding girls. This is a meaningful activity, contributing to changing community awareness, affirming the role of girls in the family and society.

On behalf of Long Bien ward leaders, comrade Pham Thi Bich Hang - Vice Chairman of the ward People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for primary health care and health programs sent congratulations and commended 80 good and studious girls representing more than 1,200 families with only girls in the area.

Comrade Pham Thi Bich Hang emphasized that in recent times, Long Bien ward has made efforts to synchronously deploy solutions: controlling the sex ratio at birth, promoting communication to change awareness, signing a commitment with non-public medical facilities not to disclose the sex of the fetus, strengthening inspection and supervision, and at the same time taking care of population quality and adolescent reproductive health.

"The message of Investing in girls for family happiness and the future of the country was once again affirmed through today's Conference. We believe that they will continue to study well, practice hard, become useful citizens, and contribute to building a civilized and modern capital," affirmed the Vice Chairman of Long Bien Ward People's Committee.

At the Conference, delegates watched a report on population and family planning work in Hanoi, the current situation of gender imbalance at birth, as well as typical examples of girls overcoming difficulties to study well.

Delegates and girls took souvenir photos after the commendation conference.

In particular, 80 outstanding girls from 37 residential groups of Long Bien ward were presented with flowers and gifts by the Organizing Committee. The fresh bouquets of flowers and meaningful gifts are a recognition, encouragement, and motivation for the girls to continue to strive in their studies and training.

Through practical activities, the People's Committee of Long Bien Ward hopes to spread the spirit of respect, love and equal opportunities for girls, so that each of them can develop comprehensively and become beautiful flowers in the flower garden of the Capital.
