PV GAS reached the Top 12 most profitable enterprises in Vietnam in the first 6 months of 2025

(Chinhphu.vn) - PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) has marked an impressive milestone when it excellently ranked 12th in the Top 20 enterprises with the highest pre-tax profit in Vietnam with the figure of 9,410 billion VND, a growth of 27% over the same period in 2024.

The first 6 months of 2025 witnessed many unprecedented fluctuations: Brent oil price dropped to 71.8 USD/barrel (only 85% compared to the same period), spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices, coal and input gas all decreased by 7-20%; power gas output decreased sharply, while gas consumption demand in the whole market decreased significantly. However, in the midst of that difficult picture, PV GAS not only stood firm but also made a strong breakthrough thanks to the synchronous implementation of strategic pillars.

The biggest driving force comes from the business of liquefied gases (liquefied petroleum gas - LPG and LNG), with revenue increasing by nearly VND 7,000 billion, marking a growth rate of 12% and continuing the 48% breakthrough momentum of 2024, becoming the main driving force.

At the same time, PV GAS continued to expand its industrial and service market share when industrial gas and fertilizer increased by 15%, gas transportation services increased by 18%, clearly demonstrating the trend of restructuring revenue towards sustainability, gradually reducing dependence on traditional gas sources for power generation.

At the same time, the gas system was operated effectively with the completion of increasing the regasification capacity of Thi Vai LNG Warehouse to 233 tons/hour (equivalent to about 7.7 million m³/day), providing nearly 400 million m³ of regasified LNG in the first half of the year alone, opening up new growth space.

In particular, a series of strategic contracts were signed, including the purchase of 370 million Sm³ of LNG for 2025, long-term contracts with Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 Power Plants, Phu My Fertilizer Plant, BOT power plants, and the recovery of thousands of billions of VND from gas reserves in the 2022-2023 period. These steps not only strengthen cash flow and profit margins but also affirm the stature, mettle and flexible adaptation of PV GAS in challenging times.

The achievement of being in the Top 12 most profitable enterprises in the country is not only an outstanding financial mark, but also an important stepping stone for PV GAS to go further on the journey with the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group (Petrovietnam/Group) to realize the aspiration to reach the world , aiming to be in the Fortune Global 500 ranking by 2030.

In Petrovietnam's general strategy, PV GAS is identified as the main driving force, shouldering the key mission with ambitious goals: capturing 100% of the domestic natural gas and compressed natural gas (CNG) market share; maintaining 65-70% of the LPG and LNG market share in Vietnam, while gradually expanding its footprint to the international market; ensuring the growth rate of revenue and after-tax profit to meet the plan assigned by the Party, the State and the Group.

At the same time, PV GAS is focusing on investing in developing integrated energy centers, affirming its leading role in the gas market, ensuring national energy security, and pioneering the green energy transition trend with green hydrogen trials and low-carbon projects.

The impressive achievements in the first half of 2025 are not only financial figures, but also vivid proof of PV GAS's innovation and aspiration for liberation.
