Quang Ninh develops tourism to adapt to administrative boundary arrangement

After the two-level local government came into operation nationwide, Quang Ninh province has emerged as a leading locality with a methodical approach, developing tourism in accordance with the arrangement of administrative boundaries.

According to the report of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first 9 months of 2025, Quang Ninh welcomed 17.11 million tourists (including more than 3.2 million international visitors); total revenue reached 44,250 billion VND.

Sharing with the press about this result, Mr. Nguyen Lam Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province, said that the rearrangement of the province's administrative units did not cause many fluctuations in tourism resources in the province.

Larger cultural and tourism resources will be a new resource for communes and wards to promote creativity and cooperation in building unique tourism products in the direction of: One commune, one ward, one product (OCOP) in tourism and culture, thereby promoting tourism advantages as a driving force for comprehensive socio-economic development and redrawing the tourism map of Quang Ninh.

However, to ensure that each area after the merger is properly assessed for potential, has appropriate exploitation orientation, and is associated with the specific strengths of each commune, ward, and special zone, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province issued Plan 289/KH-SVHTTDL dated August 18, 2025 to survey and evaluate infrastructure and services in all tourist areas and spots, and at the same time clean data and digitize tourism resources to integrate into the electronic map system.

According to Mr. Nguyen, this is the basis for the province to have a new, modern, and intuitive tourism map, serving the management and promotion of destinations; at the same time, it is also a factor that helps improve the quality of services and the image of Quang Ninh destinations.

Quang Ninh aims to become one of the globally connected tourism centers, a world-leading destination.

In addition, Quang Ninh also maintains its attraction with a series of cultural-sports-tourism events such as: Ha Long Carnival 2025, Hot Air Balloon Festival, Ha Long Marathon, Ultra Trail Yen Tu... These activities are organized regularly, showing that the competitiveness of a destination comes not only from changing administrative boundaries, but also from the capacity to manage data, organize events and renew the tourist experience.

Aiming to become one of the globally connected tourism hubs

In recent times, the contribution of tourism to the GRDP of Quang Ninh has accounted for a high proportion. Quang Ninh tourism continues to affirm itself as a key economic sector, a driving force for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, effectively preserving cultural, historical, traditional values and unique ecosystems, contributing to environmental protection, adapting to climate change, preventing natural disasters and rising sea levels, while contributing to ensuring social security and maintaining national defense and security.

It is known that the tourism development project of Quang Ninh province sets the goal of striving for a high and sustainable tourism growth rate by 2030, based on the strong development of international-class tourism products and services; becoming a tourism center connecting the region and the world, a key area of national high-class tourism, entertainment and resort with a truly synchronous, modern, and superior infrastructure system; having a diverse, unique, high-quality tourism product system, strong brand, and global appeal and competitiveness.

By 2050, Quang Ninh aims to become one of the globally connected tourism centers, the world's leading destination based on the brand positioning of Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay as a landscape paradise and the harmonious development between economic - social - environmental ecosystems with the quality of life of the people and the environment meeting international standards.
